    摘要: An articulating band saw apparatus provides a frame that includes a vertically extending section having upper and lower end portions. An elevator moves between the upper and lower end portions of the frame. A first hydraulic actuator is supported on the elevator for movement therewith. A first arm provides arm end portions, the first arm supported by the first hydraulic actuator. An end of the first arm supporting a second hydraulic actuator that is spaced away from the first hydraulic actuator. The second hydraulic actuator supports a second arm. An endless band type saw is mounted on the free end of the second arm generally opposite the second actuator. The band saw is movable by articulation of the first and second actuators and resulting movement of the first and second arms. In one embodiment, the band saw is a diamond wire saw.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling the cutting of bandsaw machines includes continuous feeding of the bandsaw blade relative to the workpiece by alternating the speed at which the bandsaw blade is fed relative to the workpiece between fast and slow, so that the bandsaw blade is continuously periodically fed relative to the workpiece alternately fast and slow. In a first embodiment, the bandsaw blade is fed into the workpiece and a continuously operating control motor is used to control a flow valve to alternate the speed at which the bandsaw blade is fed into the workpiece. In a second embodiment, the workpiece is fed into the bandsaw blade and a continuously operating control motor is used to control a flow control valve to alternate the speed at which the workpiece is fed into the bandsaw blade. In a third embodiment, the bandsaw blade is fed into the workpiece and a continuously operating servo motor is used to drive a lead screw to alternate the speed at which the bandsaw blade is fed into the workpiece. In a fourth embodiment, the workpiece is fed into the bandsaw blade and a servo motor is continuously used to drive a lead screw to alternate the speed at which the workpiece is fed into the bandsaw blade.

The frame structure is supported for movement relative to the positioning mechanism between inoperative and cutting positions in a direction generally perpendicular to the stock. The rocking mechanism is operable at least during the cutting operation performed by the cutting reach of the endless band saw.

The feed device controls the relative movement of the head in the feed direction and comprises: a ball roller spindle rotatably supported by the stand and provided with outer helical threads, the spindle having a length greater than the maximum feed displacement of the portion of the head in the region of the spindle; two spaced-apart axial bearings carried by the head; a freewheel coupling positioned between the axial bearings and composed of an inner race in threaded engagement with the spindle and having a thread pitch outside of the range of self-locking with the spindle thread, an outer race carried by, and rotatable freely relative to, the inner race, and a coupling mechanism coupling the races together in a manner to permit the outer race to rotate freely relative to the inner race in the direction of rotation of the inner race relative to the spindle during movement of the head in the feed direction, the outer race being driven in that direction of rotation at a rate which is a function of the tool advance; a braked drive motor connected for rotating the spindle; and a unit for adjusting the weight loading by the head on the freewheel coupling.
