    Abstract: A door lock system and method includes a first latch member defining a threaded aperture and configured for attachment to a first door member, a second latch member having a slot and configured for attachment to a second door member, and a clamp member having an elongate shaft, a flange attached to a first end of the shaft, and a threaded, second end configured to be screwed into the threaded aperture; one end of the shaft defines a tool aperture. An end region adjacent the first end of the shaft is configured to be disposed through the slot. When a tool is used to rotate the shaft relative to the threaded aperture to move the flange towards the second latch member, the flange comes into abutment with the second latch member to connect the shaft and latch members together for securing the door members.

    Abstract: A multi-axial catch comprises a mount and a catch body coupled to the mount. The mount affixes the catch to a frame and the catch body has a recess to position a latch head of a latch within the recess to engage the latch with the catch. The catch can include a cam to form the recess. The catch rotates around a rotation axis in response to a longitudinal motion of the latch. The catch body is coupled to the mount to allow the catch body to rotate around a pivot axis in response to a transverse motion of the latch. The catch includes an elastic coupler to position the catch in a rotational at-rest position and an elastic coupler to position the catch-body in a transverse at-rest position. The recess allows the latch head to move laterally, in response to a lateral motion of the latch, within the catch.

    Abstract: A push-up device includes a case, a rod juts out from inside the case so as to adopt an advanced position, a rod biasing member biases the rod in a jutting out direction pushing the rod out from inside the case, a lock mechanism that includes a slide cam that moves together with the rod in the jutting out direction and a rotation cam that is relatively rotatable with respect to the slide cam about the axis of the rod, with the lock mechanism positioned between the case and the rod, and locking the rod in a retracted position in the case by the rotation cam engaging with the slide cam and rotating due to the rod being pressed in against biasing force of the rod biasing member, and a rotation cam biasing member that biases the rotation cam toward the jutting out direction.

    Abstract: A vending machine locking arrangement operates electronically by way of an electric motor. In particular, the arrangement is a retrofit of an existing, mechanical-key operated T-bar, which is used to close and lock the machine's doors, to provide an electronic locking system not reliant on the use of a mechanical key. The arrangement substitutes for the conventional barrel lock at the handle-end of the T-bar a small electric motor (e.g. a camera re-wind motor) which acts upon the resident locking piece in the T-bar by, e.g., a cam arrangement. The inventive arrangement also makes use of an existing hole near the locking piece for making an electrical connection to the motor. An alternative embodiment places the motor outside the T-bar, the motor then having its own locking piece in the form of, e.g., a rocker arm engaging with an opening in the T-bar. Also disclosed is a smart-card system for driving the motor to trigger the unlocking process. The smart-card may also be used to download the contents of a reader mounted on the machine, these contents providing information on various access parameters related to the machine, e.g. the number of accesses over a period, the cards not allowed access, the identity of the machine, etc.

    Abstract: A low profile latch mechanism for an access panel that minimizes external structural discontinuities while concomitantly providing external access to engage and/or disengage the latch mechanism for closing and/or opening of the access panel. The latch mechanism includes an insert member mounted in rotatable combination with the internal surface of the access panel, a captured floating nut mounted in nonrotatable combination with the internal surface of a frame segment, a safety lock member mounted for axial displacement within the captured floating nut, and a removable key member. The removable key member is insertable through an access aperture in the access panel to engage the insert member for rotation thereof to threadingly engage the captured floating nut to close the access panel. The safety lock member is biased to engage the insert member to lock the low profile latch mechanism in the fully engaged state upon removal of the key member. The removable key member is inserted through the access aperture to mechanically disengage the safety lock member from the insert member to initiate the disengagement procedure. Counter-rotation of the key member causes the insert member to threadingly disengage from the capture floating nut, which causes the access panel to be biased to a partially open position wherein the access panel may be fully opened manually.

    Abstract: A door securing device has a body adapted for mounting on the door frame with a generally rectangular plate adjacent the body opposite the frame. The plate is attached to an arbor that slides axially perpendicularly to the inside wall. It is controlled by a groove and lug camming arrangement and can be rotated a selected amount to allow limited axial movement in selected rotational positions. The plate is shaped to clear the door when in a stowed position against the body. Pulled out, or actuated, the plate can rotate to place a plate extension in position to secure the door when slightly opened. The plate is moved back to stowing position by reversing the procedure engages the door in the closed position. A latch and latch release trigger is provided to release the arbor, and the plate, to extend to the actuated position.

    Abstract: A locking mechanism for securing sliding glass panel units including an elongate threaded fastener having a threaded forward end section and a rear end section. This fastener has a knob or handle for rotating the fastener about its central axis, this knob being mounted on the rear end section. A mounting plate is used to rotatably mount the fastener in a support frame so that the fastener extends through a hole in the plate and the support frame. An anchor with a threaded aperture is fixedly mounted in the sliding glass panel unit and this aperture is capable of threadedly receiving the forward end section of the fastener. Preferably a spring is arranged on the fastener between the mounting plate and the knob or handle, this spring acting to bias the fastener away from the anchor. The mechanism can be used with either sliding glass windows or sliding glass doors.
