摘要： A punch arrangement for punching holes in a moving web of a plastic film has a pivoted yoke mounted on a fixed bracket above the plastic film. An air cylinder or other actuator is mounted on the yoke and has a cutting head mounted on the rod of the cylinder. The cutting head is in registered alignment with an aperture on a support plate below the film. The film engages and swings the cutting head out in the film transport direction until the head rises out of contact with the film. Then a spring urges the yoke, actuator and cutting head back to their home position. A punch cycle can be carried out repeatedly on the film while the film is in constant motion.

摘要： A sliding block with a female die acts in conjunction with a four bar linkage mounted block with a male die to punch indexing holes in a moving metal strip. The block with male die continually seeks to rotate, but is held in position by the sliding block. The sliding block is programmed to periodically move forward at the speed of the moving metal strip and to return to starting position. This frees the male die to rotate to punch out the hole, and to continue to rotate back into the starting position to be held by the returned sliding block.

摘要： A method and apparatus for automatically performing work operations, such as the punching of apertures, on moving web materials. The apparatus includes a chassis that is mounted for limited movement in the direction of web travel. The chassis includes a clamping plate and a base plate which are selectively brought into clamping engagement with the web, which enables the chassis to be moved along with the web. Subsequently, a tool is drawn into engagement with the web to perform the work operation. Upon completion of the work operation, the tool is removed from the vicinity of the web, the web is released by the chassis clamping and base plates, and the chassis is returned to its original position.

An example apparatus includes a rotary press having a first ram with a first pressing face and a second ram with a second pressing face opposing the first pressing face. The first ram is disposed between and rotatably coupled to a first rotating gear and a second rotating gear at an off-center distance from the rotational axis of the first and second rotating gears. The second ram disposed between and rotatably coupled to a third rotating gear and a fourth rotating gear at an off-center distance from the rotational axis of the third and fourth rotating gears. Rotation of the first, second, third, and fourth rotating gears causes the first and second pressing faces to move relative to each other and to reciprocate in opposing directions along substantially parallel paths. The first and second pressing faces include material cutting devices that work cooperatively to shear, punch, or otherwise cut the continuously moving material.

摘要： In a cutting apparatus or punch press for repeatedly cutting or punching a work shape from a continuously travelling web or sheet of paper, cardboard or similar material, the cutting dies or punch tools are mounted for reciprocation longitudinally in the direction of feed of the web or sheet on press platens that open and close and sustain the punching forces but do not themselves move in the direction of feed. By means of a drive mechanism operating in synchronism with the opening and closing movements of the press platens the punch tools are accelerated from rest in the direction of feed to attain the speed of the work web or sheet at the instant of punching and then are decelerated to rest and moved in reverse back to the initial position of the cycle. The stroke of the reciprocation may be adjusted to suit different lengths of the work shape to be punched.
