The sticking of the breaker comprises: expanding a profiled deck to swell the raw tire main body into a second swollen state, and turning down both edge portions of the breaker while being supported by the profiled deck. The building of the band comprises: spirally winding a tape on the curved breaker ply while being supported by the profiled deck.

This method for manufacturing a pneumatic tire includes a green tire formation process for forming a green tire by affixing tire-constituting members in sequence to a rigid core. The green tire formation process includes a band ply formation step for winding a ribbon-shaped strip in which a band cord sequence is coated with a topping rubber into a helical shape. The band cord comprises a composite cord in which first strands of aramid fiber and second strands of heat-shrinkable organic fiber are twisted together. The stress-elongation curve of the composite cord has a low-elasticity region from the origin to the inflection point, and a high-elasticity region past the inflection point. The elongation of the composite cord is in the range of 0.9-3.3% at the inflection point, and the modulus of the composite cord is in the range of 11-31 N/% in the low-elasticity region.

A method and apparatus for manufacturing an annular tire component such as a tire bead includes locating a toroidal support; placing an ejector nozzle in an interference relationship to the toroidal support; and simultaneously ejecting through the nozzle a continuous stream of an elastomeric belt component material in a suitably fluid state and a continuous length of at least one thread component disposed within the stream onto the toroidal support in a predetermined bead configuration. The bead configuration is at least partially defined by a relief in the nozzle ejection port and by the toroidal support onto which the bead is formed. Rotation of the toroidal support may be coupled with the simultaneous ejection of the elastomeric component and thread component in order to create an annular bead structure. A tire may be constructed having a desired bead configuration and location by means of the method and apparatus.

The strip passes through a guide which is moved alternatingly transversely relative to a travel path of the strip, whereby the strip is laid in an undulating pattern on the receiving surface. The amplitude of the alternating transverse movement is varied as a function of a ratio of: (a) the speed of a portion of the strip approaching the guide, and (b) the speed of the receiving surface. Between the guide and the receiving surface the strip is pivoted by 90 degrees about the strip's longitudinal axis so as to be laid tangentially on the receiving surface.
