Abstract:
A method for extracting at least one chemical element contained in a molten salt medium can include the following steps: a) putting the molten salt medium with the chemical element in contact with a monomer including at least one group able to complex the chemical element, the monomer thereby forming a coordination complex with the chemical element; and b) polymerizing the thereby complexed monomer.
Abstract:
Device for measuring the rheological properties of a viscoelastic material, formed of an upper rotating plate (10) and of a lower rotating plate (20) which are able to press against the opposite faces of a sample S of the material to be measured. The axes of rotation (a1 a1′ and a2 a2′) of said plates are arranged parallel to one another in a direction perpendicular to the plane formed by the plates, and offset from one another by a distance d. Two independent motors (12, 22) drive respectively the upper plate (10) and the lower plate (20) at the same speed of rotation ω, without giving rise to any angular displacement between the two plates.
Abstract:
A method for controlling fueling of an engine, the method comprising during an engine cold start and before the engine is warmed to a predetermined level, transitioning from open-loop fueling to closed-loop fueling, where during closed-loop fueling feedback from an exhaust gas oxygen sensor is utilized and where said closed-loop fueling generates a cycling of delivered fuel in maintaining exhaust air-fuel ratio at a desired level; and providing a fueling adjustment to a subsequent engine start in response to fueling information, said fueling information obtained over at least a complete cycle of closed-loop fueling following said transition from open-loop fueling.
Abstract:
A system is described using a fuel quality sensor for controlling various aspects of engine operation. In particular, an acoustic wave sensor is utilized to measure viscosity and density of gasoline fuels. This measurement is utilized to predict engine combustion quality during an engine start. Based on the prediction, the method adjusts engine operating parameters (such as fuel injection amount and ignition timing) to achieve improved vehicle driveability and engine combustion.
Abstract:
An egg cracker and yolk separator preferably include an egg dish and a dish lid. The egg dish preferably includes a dish member, a handle member and a separator wall. The dish member preferably includes a dish base and a dish peripheral wall. The dish peripheral wall extends upward from the dish base. The dish peripheral wall includes a pouring portion wall, opposing side walls and a rear wall. The handle member extends from the rear wall. The separator wall is located in substantially a middle of the egg dish. An egg white opening is formed between a top of the dish base and a bottom of the separator wall. The dish lid preferably includes a lid base, a lid peripheral wall and a lift tab. The lid peripheral wall extends downward from a bottom of the lid base. A second embodiment includes a removable separator wall.
Abstract:
A rack and pinion steering gear for a motor vehicle may include a steering pinion, which is connected to a steering shaft and is engaged with a gear rack that is movably mounted in a housing, and may further include a pressure piece arranged in the housing in a pressure piece bore, and which may keep the gear rack engaged free from play with the steering pinion. A pressure piece for a rack and pinion steering gear may include an outer metallic casing inserted with a press fit into the pressure piece bore, at least one elastomer damping element, in particular an elastomer casing, arranged in the metallic casing, with a metallic pressure piece core enclosed by the at least one elastomer damping element.
Abstract:
A voltage regulator is disclosed. The voltage regulator includes a comparator for providing a gated output signal; and a state machine for receiving the gated output signal. The voltage regulator further includes at least one switch cell controlled by the state machine, for delivering charge to a load. Accordingly, a voltage regulator in accordance with the present invention yields N times (where N is an integer greater than one) the linear efficiency over typical linear regulators without requiring any external components. Therefore improved regulator efficiency is provided for low power devices.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a multi-compartment drug dispensing device, for dispensing multiple medications to a patient. The device includes a plurality of compartments, for holding a plurality of drugs. Each compartment is separately labeled with information relevant for the contents of that compartment. The compartments may be associated into groups, corresponding to the desired administration protocol. Groups of compartments may be arranged on a strip, and multiple strips may be provided in a container such as a dispensing box, to provide a system for dispensing multiple drugs per day, over a course of multiple days. Methods are also disclosed.
