    摘要: Disclosed is a linear paper-grasping guide for entering data. Such guide includes a generally planar guide body having a paper contact surface and a retention tongue displaced from the body and also having a retention surface. The surfaces are substantially coplanar so that the guide securely grasps and is positionally retained on a paper sheet interposed between the body and the tongue. The new guide may have any of several other features including a bevelled edge for permitting angled viewing of text, an edge with a computer function template therealong, a colored edge directing the eye of the user to the line of text to be entered, a translucent strip to help discern the next line of text to be entered and/or indicia for setting up vertical columns.

    摘要: A printing apparatus comprising a type carrier to travel along a print line on a printing paper, a plurality of printing hammers to be selectively driven to strike the printing paper against an inking ribbon and the inking ribbon against a platen in front of the inking ribbon, and a support member supporting the type carrier, inking ribbon and platen thereon, wherein the support member is movable between a position holding the type carrier, inking ribbon and platen in positions capable of performing printing operation but intercepting the line of sight between the print line and the operator's eyes and a position holding the type carrier, inking ribbon and platen in inoperative positions but providing an unobstructed line of sight from the operator's eyes toward the print line for enabling the operator to clearly view the printed information along the print line.

    摘要: A method of skipping white spaces during the marking of an image onto a recording medium with a marking device includes the steps of detecting a white space in the image between a previous image block and a next image block, positioning a marking element of the marking device adjacent an output starting position on the recording medium, and marking the next image block on the recording medium. The marking device includes a marking element and a controller. Each white space is interposed between two image blocks, which include adjacent image data lines. The controller controls the marking element to mark the image in swaths. Each swath of the marking element is capable of marking more than one image data line. The output starting position is determined such that the marking device marks the next print block using a minimum number of swaths. As a result, the operating speed and throughput of the marking device are increased.

    摘要: A typewriter-printer includes a single element printing mechanism which is pivotable about the center line of the curved platen to an optimum print line viewing position. Printing can thus take place, for example, along a print line located below the center line of the curved platen or, in the alternative, above the platen center line in accordance with operator adjustment of the printing mechanism. The printing mechanism is mounted for printing motion and is further mounted for escapement motion with respect to the stationary platen.

    摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus has provision for both line printing and character-by-character printing. A directionally oriented grating and associated circuitry is provided to maintain a record of character and ink drop printing locations. Also, provision is made for over-shooting the printhead some distance past each character printed during an incremental mode and for stopping the printhead to enable better visibility of the character just printed. Upon printing of the next character, the printhead first moves to the left a sufficient distance to get past the character box to be printed and sweeps to the right with the overshoot and stopping as before.
