摘要:
Various embodiments are disclosed for a stepped cambered planing hull for a boat including a swept back cambered planing surface having a non-linear distribution of camber. The non-linear distribution of camber along the swept back cambered planing surface may enable stepped cambered planing hulls having high deadrise (i.e., greater than 15 degrees). The stepped cambered planing hull may include a shaped hydrofoil that generates further hydrodynamic lift by piercing the free surface wake produced by the swept back cambered planing surface. The stepped cambered planing hull may have external bottom surfaces adapted at the after-body and transom to accommodate a distinctive profile of the free surface wake produced by the swept back cambered planing surface. The stepped cambered planing hull may include an adjustable interceptor blade to regulate hydrodynamic lift at low speeds or to ensure an optimal dynamic trim angle in a wide range of speeds.

A recreational sport boat includes a hull, having starboard and port sides and a transom, and a pair of wake-modifying devices positioned aft of the transom. One of the wake-modifying devices is positioned on a port side of the boat's centerline and another of the wake-modifying devices is positioned on a starboard side of the boat's centerline. Each wake-modifying device includes a plate-like member and at least one downturned surface at a trailing portion of the plate-like member. Each wake-modifying device is pivotable between a non-deployed position and a deployed position about a pivot axis that is horizontal or inclined no more than about 35° from horizontal. When a wake-modifying device is in the deployed position, the downturned surface is lower than it is in the non-deployed position so as to be able to modify the boat's wake.

The invention relates to a boat comprising a platform (52), at least one main, completely submerged, streamlined float (51), integral with the platform (52) by one or more supporting pylons (16) which take up the full weight of the platform (52) to keep it out of the water, arms (14) radiating out from the platform (52), which are substantially horizontal and which support submersible struts (5) extending into the water, fitted with submerged orientable ailerons (1, 2) with hydrodynamic lift effect, said arms (14) being located above the water, mobile streamlined fairings (6), freely rotating under the effect of the local current and individually enveloping each supporting pylon (16) and each submersible strut (5), at least three auxiliary closed-hull floats (53), watertight and streamlined, spaced around the platform (52) to ensure balanced trim when immobile or at low speed, integral with the radiating arms (14) or with the platform (52).

Presented is a lifting body ship that has a blower pressurized air layer disposed in the underside of its lifting body such that the air layer reduces wetted area friction and hence the propulsive power required is greatly reduced. Further, a water propulsor is supplied that takes in water through transversely oriented water inlets in the top of the lifting body to thereby reduce turbulence and its associated drag that would normally occur over the top of the lifting body.

A small waterplane area high speed ship is disclosed which includes a hull structure having a bow portion and a stern portion with the hull being normally supported above the surface of the water when in operation. A forward set of dual struts depend from the bow portion of the hull structure; these dual struts are subtended by a first transverse displacement foil extending laterally between amd connected to each of the dual struts. A second set of aft dual struts depend from the stern portion of the hull structure; the second set of dual struts are subtended by a second transverse displacement foil extending laterally between and connected to each of said struts. The transverse displacement foils provide the major bouyancy for the ship during operation to maintain the hull above the surface of the water during operation. The forward and aft struts and the foils are spaced longitudinally a predetermined distance selected such that the transverse wave created by each corresponding element is 180.degree. apart.

An improved leading edge contour for control flaps of the type suitable for use with hydrofoil vessels and the like wherein discontinuities or gaps between the leading edge of the flap and the trailing edge of the fluid foil to which it is attached are held to a minimum; yet, wherein localized or discontinuous differential deflection of the flap leading edge and the foil trailing edge, which inherently occurs as the vessel moves through a fluid medium, does not result in interference between the two edges, thereby minimizing the problem of reduced fatigue life; and, wherein excessively large discontinuities are not required between the two edges in those edge areas where no significant differential deflection occurs, thereby significantly improving the performance characteristics of both the flap and the flap/foil combination. More specifically, an improved flap leading edge construction wherein the distance between the flap leading edge and the foil trailing edge is maintained at a desired minimum, or optimized, gap space in those regions where the flap leading edge is positively, yet hingedly, connected to the foil trailing edge--i.e., those points of "hard" connection--while that region of the flap leading edge intermediate such hinged "hard" connection points--i.e., regions of "soft" or non-positive connection--define a slightly greater gap or discontinuity with the foil trailing edge, thereby permitting greater differential deflection of the two edges in those regions of "soft" or non-positive connection where the flap is generally subjected to deflection of greater magnitude than is the foil; yet wherein the foil trailing edge can be simply machined as a radius at constant percent of chord over the entire span of the foil.

A high-speed ship is formed of at least one elongate hull section submerged completely beneath the water''s surface supporting a platform above the surface waves by a plurality of struts dependent from the platform to provide support and stabilization by reason of their configuration and location. High-speed dynamic pitch stability is ensured by including a stabilizer member on the aft portion of the submerged hull having a horizontally oriented control surface sufficiently sized to locate the greatest composite, vertical pressure surface substantially aft of the ship''s centroid. Controlling the angle of the stabilizer member in accordance with changing wave conditions and speed provides a highly stable cargo transport capability as well as a superior weapons platform.
