Abstract:
The invention provides a knock-down, lightweight, thermally insulating, shipping container made at least in part from a polymer core covered by a thermoplastic sheet layer. In an embodiment of the invention, the shipping container is modular, being adjusted to suit the item(s) to be shipped. In an embodiment of the invention, the base, top panel and walls are made of expanded polystyrene core and combined with high impact polystyrene surface. In one embodiment, a mesh is introduced into the core to strengthen the core making the shipping container tamper proof. A shipping container bag that is light weight, strong, made of a fire retardant material and which forms an ultra violet light, weather and dust barrier can be used to store the shipping container. A system and method for supplying, dispensing, positioning, tracking, transporting, forwarding and storing the light weight shipping containers based on the shipping container bag is disclosed.
Abstract:
A bulk bag comprises eight substantially identical side wall portions each containing a stiffening panel. A bottom wall is connected to the bottom edges of the side wall portions and may be provided with a discharge port. Alternatively, a discharge port may be provided in one of the side wall portions. The bulk bag may be provided with a top wall which may be either openable or secured in place. A pallet and/or lift loops may be provided for transporting the bulk bag and the contents thereof.

Abstract:
A multi-component demountable palletized container includes a pallet bottom, four sidewall components which may be readily assembled with rods and disassembled and a top. Each of the sidewalls include a pair of horizontal and a pair of vertical members that are overlapped at their ends and are secured together. An inner cardboard panel is secured to the inside of the sidewalls and closes off the space between the members. The vertical members define grooves or channels which receive assembly straps or clips having hooked ends which align to define a corner axis and which receive elongate rods.
Abstract:
A PVC pallet or crate is disclosed, wherein the pallet is made from PVC structural products such as hollow, extruded PVC profiles. The profiles are bonded together using an adhesive. The profiles are preferably surface treated before bonding to enhance the strength of the bond. The PVC structural products preferably incorporate an acrylic polymer impact modifier in a certain amount to greatly increase the toughness of the structural product. The adhesive is preferably a hot-melt moisture-cure polyurethane adhesive. The surface treatment is preferably achieved by plasma treating or flame treatment. A method for making PVC pallets or crates is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A container for shipping bulky and/or heavy objects. The container includes a skid portion with a base panel and support frame, and skid runners are coupled to the exterior of the base panel. A cradle is fixedly coupled to the skid portion and a plurality of side and end panel portions with coupling devices join the side and end panels to the skid support frame. A cover portion fits within the side and end panels to provide a smooth exterior surface, and handling straps bind the container portions together.
Abstract:
A durable lightweight knockdown container in which abutting panels of the container are releasably held in assembled position on a base partially to complete the container for loading. The remaining panel or panels are then simply and expeditiously secured in place to complete the container for shipment. Continuous interengageable connectors along abutting edges of the container panels inhibit bowing or separation of the panel edges under load without external straps while at the same time permitting easy disassembly of the container without the use of tools.
Abstract:
A packaging system for a temperature sensitive payload is provided. The system includes insulative panels, including side panels and end panels, forming a product compartment. Cooling layers within the product compartment are located below and above the payload. Vertical posts disposed between the side panels and the payload and between the end panels and the payload create spaces and channels for convective air movement.
