摘要: According to aspects illustrated herein, there is provided a method, a system, and a printmaking device for calibrating sensors. The method begins by transporting a media sheet along a media path, the sheet having a lead edge, a trail edge and a measurement edge. Next, the method halts the forward motion of the sheet after the lead edge of the sheet passes a fixed reference. After that, the method moves the sheet laterally relative to the media path across the at least one edge sensor using a sheet actuator. Then, the method records an actual position of the sheet actuator and an output of at least one edge sensor. Finally, the method calculates a calibration factor based on the actual position of the sheet actuator and the output of the at least one edge sensor.

摘要: A method of calibrating once-around and harmonic errors of encoded nips is provided. An encoder with an index pulse is used to measure the velocity and rotation of the driven wheel or idler. The geometry of the drive train and wheel and idler is chosen so that their once around and harmonic frequencies are unique such that no other drive errors will generate these frequencies. The method includes running the idler or wheel at substantially constant velocity for N revolutions. Each index triggers the collection of velocity data, which is averaged for N revolutions. This process detects drive train motion errors that are periodic with respect to the timing of the index pulse (i.e., once per revolution of the wheel or idler). Once the velocity errors have been measured, corrections are made. This method may be incorporated in xerographic machines as part of a setup or calibration procedure.

摘要: At least one sheet of paper is conveyed in a feeding direction along a conveyance path. A line perpendicular to the feeding direction of the conveyed sheet includes at least first and second distinct view field regions (lengths) separated from one another by the center of the path. The light directed toward the sheet which passes across the path along the perpendicular line is optically scanned, and a value of the dimension a conveyed sheet projects into each of the first and second view field regions is produced for each scan. The sheet is repetitively scanned a plurality of times as it is conveyed along the path, and the values obtained, for each scan, for at least for the first and second regions are summed with a predetermined constant value to produce a sequence of width values representing the widths of the conveyed paper sheet at a corresponding plurality of longitudinal positions along the sheet. The width values from the sequence which fall within a range about a predetermined nominal width value of the sheet (the range being this nominal width value plus or minus a preset allowable deviation) are selected and used for computing the average width value of the sheet. The average width value is compared with a reference width value. Document skew, dog-ear, puncture and other parameters may also be determined from the measured width values.

摘要: There is provided a conveying device including a controller that makes a conveying speed of a printing medium conveyed by a first conveyor unit be higher than a conveying speed of a printing medium conveyed by a second conveyor unit and makes the printing medium be conveyed while forming sagging on the printing medium between the first and second conveyor units. The controller makes a sheet sensor acquire the amount of light, which passes through the printing medium conveyed between a light emitting part and a light receiving part, as the amount of received light and determines whether or not the double-feed of the printing media has occurred only when this amount of received light is smaller than the double-feed criterion amount of received light at substantially the same conveying distance of the printing medium conveyed by the first conveyor unit.

摘要: A method and apparatus that adjusts the step count at which a tray low paper condition is declared based on the number of outstanding feed commitments and the average number of feeds between tray increments. After a first tray increment has occurred, feeder software will wait a pre-determined number of additional tray increments, and will then calculate the average number of feeds between increments. Using this average and the number of outstanding feed commitments a low paper condition is declared when a predetermined logical test is true.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a stacking unit, a first detection unit, a second detection unit, and a control unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a recording medium. The stacking unit stacks recording media on which images are formed. The first detection unit detects a conveyance interval between a trailing edge of a first recording medium and a leading edge of a second recording medium conveyed subsequent to the first recording medium conveyance. The second detection unit is disposed downstream of the first detection unit and detects the conveyance interval and detects whether an amount of recording media stacked on the stacking unit exceeds a predetermined amount. The control unit changes, according to a result of comparing detected conveyance intervals, conveyance timing of the second recording medium to widen the conveyance interval detected by the first detection unit.
