    摘要: A method for producing a plastic aggregate for use in concrete compositions includes exposing high density plastics to ultraviolet irradiation in the presence of a strong alkali. The plastic may be recycled plastic which has been washed and cut into strips. Plastic aggregates according to the invention have an increased affinity for common concrete binders such as portland cement. A cement composition made with such plastic aggregates may include up to 60% by volume of plastic aggregate. The plastic aggregates are well adapted for use in concrete compositions used to make pre-cast concrete components.

    摘要: The invention is related to a device for the continuous mixing of lightconcrete comprising density decreasing particles, concrete and water, characterised by an elongated mixing chamber (1) in which a screw (4) is rotatably arranged around the central axis (5) of the cylinder (1). The screw is provided with two parts, a first transporting screw part (6) and a second combined transporting and mixing screw part (7). At the free end of the transporting screw part (6), a first feeding device (13) for the supply of density decreasing particles is arranged, and at the transition between the two different screw parts (6,7), a second feeding device (14) for the supply of a concrete/water mixture is arranged. The density decreasing particles are transported by means of the transporting screw part (6) into the combined transporting and mixing screw part (7), in-order to be mixed therein into a homogenous mass of at least density decreasing particles, concrete and water, and wherein at the same time, the mass is output from the free end of the combined transporting and mixing screw part (7). The invention is further related to a method of continuous mixing, and the use of a combined transporting and mixing screw.

    摘要: The present invention comprises an aggregate for use in cementitious building materials which-successfully incorporates plastic such as recycled plastic scrap of diverse types and a abrasive, inorganic grit particles. The plastic scrap is impregnated with a grit, such as sand, glass or other inorganic material. The plastic will then bond satisfactorily with a ark cementitious binder. Impregnation is accomplished by heating the plastic in particulate form, the grit or both, then mixing the plastic and grit. The aggregate can be reinforced by the addition of metallic or artificial fibers. Optionally, the aggregate can be formed with gas filled voids by adding sodium bicarbonate or borax during the heating process or by using plastics which “off-gas” during heating. In a further option, adhesive can be added to the cementitious mix, thereby fusing plastic particles together such that a skeleton providing reinforcement or support is formed in the cured aggregate.

    摘要: Solid organic polymers, for example, rubber and plastic particles, which may include coated papers, to especially include as recovered from recycle streams, can be made to have a sulfonated outer layer by treatment with a reactant gas containing sulfur trioxide. A silo apparatus can be employed to make these sulfonated particles, wherein untreated particles fall through the silo which is provided with a reactant gas supply. The sulfonated particles may optionally be neutralized, for example, with moist ammonia. These sulfonated particles can be used in articles of manufacture such as aggregates in cements, organic resins, cellulosics, and so forth, with beneficial properties being imparted to the composite. When used in a Portland cement, for example, increased performance concrete can result. Also, sulfonated sheets may be correspondingly employed for the sulfonated particles.

    摘要: The present invention relates to processes for enhancing the bond strength of a cement matrix including reinforcement fibers and for modifying the surface characteristics of reinforcement fibers useful in cementitious materials. The processes further relate to controlling the interface properties and, more particularly, the bond strength (.tau.) and interface toughness (T.sub.i), between synthetic fibers and a cementitious material forming a matrix. By plasma treating synthetic fibers with an excitable gas capable of displacing hydrogen atoms occurring along said reinforcement fibers, the bond strength and interface toughness of the composite is dramatically increased over composites employing non-plasma treated fibers.
