摘要: A nanosilica containing fluid system for shale stabilization in a shale formation. The nanosilica containing fluid system comprising a functionalized nanosilica composition operable to react with shale at the surface of the shale formation to form a barrier on the shale formation. The functionalized nanosilica composition comprising a nanosilica particle, the nanosilica particle having a mean diameter, and a functionalization compound, the functionalization compound appended to the surface of the nanosilica particle. And an aqueous-based fluid, the aqueous-based fluid operable to carry the functionalized nanosilica composition into the shale formation. The functionalization compound is an amino silane. The aqueous-based fluid is selected from the group consisting of water, deionized water, sea water, brine, and combinations thereof.

摘要: Treating a subterranean formation with a composition including a maleic anhydride copolymer, an amine crosslinker, and a gelling agent. The maleic anhydride copolymer includes first repeat units I and II and at least one of second repeat units III and IV: where each R1 is independently —H, —O(C1-C5) alkyl, or —(C1-C5) alkyl; each R2 is independently —H, —O(C1-C5) alkyl, or —(C1-C5) alkyl; each R3 is independently —OH or —O−M1, each M1 is independently an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, an ammonium ion, or a quaternary ammonium ion; and each R4 is independently —NH2 or —OM1. The gelling agent includes at least one of: a calcium chelating agent, a calcium precipitating agent, a pH buffer, an agent reactive with hydroxide, and an acid generating agent, and promotes formation of a gel from the maleic anhydride copolymer and the amine crosslinker in contact with set cement.

The gel time control agent accelerates or retards formation of a gel from the composition compared to a composition having the same percentage by weight of the maleic anhydride copolymer and the amine crosslinker in the absence of the gel time control agent.

The aminosilane crosslinker has at least one primary amine group. Siloxane bonds may be formed between the aminosilane crosslinker and a siliceous material in contact with the gelled composition in the subterranean formation.

The method includes the step of applying an overlay film-forming monomer to the coating layer surrounding the solid cement additive. The method includes the step of reacting the base film-forming monomer and the overlay film-forming monomer to produce a polymer shell. The solid cement additive includes solid particles useful in cementing applications. The polymer shell includes a crosslinked polymer. The polymer shell surrounds the solid cement additive. The polymer shell has a permeability to water allowing controlled release of the solid cement additive.
