    摘要: A steel manufacturing facility and method are disclosed which utilize ground mobile equipment, as opposed to overhead cranes. At least one material container is loaded with a steel making product and picked up with a transport vehicle that is movable throughout the facility and adapted for various uses within the facility. The material container is placed within an interior chamber of a furnace coupling shell assembly utilizing the vehicle such that the material container is supported by a support mechanism of the apparatus. The shell assembly and the material container are moved together to the furnace utilizing the vehicle. A bottom opening of the shell assembly is positioned over the top opening of the furnace utilizing the vehicle. The furnace is then charged with the steel making product through the top opening. The material container and shell assembly are then removed together from above the furnace using the vehicle and then the furnace can be operated.

    摘要: The lift truck has an undercarriage with driving means for moving the truck along tracks and carrying hydraulic actuators operable to lift the undercarriage at track intersections to change the direction of movement of the truck. Two pairs of piston-cylinder hydraulic actuators are mounted on the undercarriage and each actuator includes a cylinder supported on the undercarriage to extend vertically upwardly therefrom and a piston movable upwardly in the associated cylinder and carrying an enlarged piston head. Pairs of tie rods are supported on each piston head through universal or gimbal type Cardan joints for universal swinging movement, and the lower ends of the tie rods are also provided with the same general type of joints. The tie rods associated with each pair of actuators support a respective stirrup so that, when the pistons are extended, the associated stirrups are lifted. These stirrups engage beneath a reinforcing ring or the like on a hot vessel, such as a steel-mill converter, and are operable to lift the vessel upwardly to engage the vessel in a tilting cradle or support in which the vessel is then locked. The gimbal or Cardan type connections of the tie rods to the piston heads and to the stirrups provide for adjustment of the tie rods and stirrups to the orientation assumed by the converter when the latter is being inserted into a tilting support.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a steel-converter-handling vehicle for mounting and dismounting a converter in a converter stand and for transporting a converter between two or several converter stands, comprising a bearing structure for the converter which is liftable and lowerable and rotatable around a vertical axis, and a vehicle frame carrying the bogies which is transposable at track intersections, in which the improvement resides in that the vehicle frame is provided with a sledge which is displaceable transversely to the direction of travel and connected with a vertical lifting cylinder arranged within said vehicle frame, a piston which is connected with the bearing structure for the converter being vertically movable in and rotatable relative to said lifting cylinder, and a supporting plate arranged within the vehicle frame being adapted for being pushed out in downward direction and thereby lifting the vehicle frame above the trackway. According to an embodiment of the invention, a single lifting device is used, affording a high simplicity of the construction and effect. It is possible to carry out adjusting movements horizontally and perpendicularly to the direction of travel and the converter is rotatable around the converter axis. The lifting means are adapted to absorb the lateral and tilting forces occuring when the converter is mounted or dismounted.

    摘要: A shaft-mounted rotatable furnace vessel or converter is provided with bearing housings journaling its shafts that are adapted to be raised and lowered on jack mounts or stands of a pair of spaced-apart stationary support piers. A driven trunnion shaft of the vessel or converter is provided with a conventional separable part type of coupling connecting it to a motor drive mechanism. Each jack mount or stand has a wedge-shaped or inclined slide part carried by a guide member for endwise guided movement, as effected by a reciprocating type of fluid motor operatively connected to one end of the slide part. Each bearing housing has a slide or wedge-shaped portion cooperating with an associated slide part and adapted to be raised and lowered by endwise movement of the slide part. An end retainer having a pair of spaced-apart portions projects upwardly from the jack mount adjacent an end thereof on which the motor is positioned and through which the motor is adapted to operatively extend in its connection to the slide part. This end retainer has an abutment portion to abut one end of an associated bearing housing; it cooperates with an opposite end retainer that is removably secured on the jack mount to abut an adjacent end of the associated bearing housing. The upwardly projecting end retainers positively or securely retain or mount an associated bearing housing with respect to the slide part. The end retainers also function to limit the maximum endwise movement of the slide part in either direction. The inclined or wedge-shaped slide portion of each bearing housing is complementary with the slide part to raise and lower the associated housing when the slide part is reciprocated by the fluid motor. The structure enables a converter vessel or furnace to be raised with respect to its piers or stands, in order that a transport car may be wheeled into position between the piers and stands and into a cooperating position under the vessel, that the support or weight of the vessel may be transferred from the stands to the car, and that the vessel with its bearing housings may be transported or moved from an operating station to a repair or maintenance station and, if desired, from the latter station to a hold station, and then returned to an operating station. The car has means for moving it into an aligned position with respect to the bottom of a converter vessel at any of the stations and for endwise moving the vessel after the second-mentioned end retainer of each of the pair of bearing housings has been removed.
