摘要: Provided is a three-dimensional flat cocoon product which is lightweight, has a favorable design and yields a highly uniform flat cocoon throughout the entire area thereof. The method of producing a flat cocoon product includes: expanding an expandable/contractible three-dimensional molding die; molding a flat cocoon by causing silkworms to crawl on an outer surface of the three-dimensional molding die and spin a cocoon; and contracting the three-dimensional molding die after the molding of the flat cocoon and extracting the contracted three-dimensional molding die from the flat cocoon.

摘要: The body of a mattress comprises a cocoon thread bundle of long fibers formed by reeling cocoon threads off cocoons and separating them one from another. The body the mattress also has inner layers sandwiching the bundle. The body is quilted at appropriate positions and covered by a suface cloth made of woven fabric, and the periphery of the body is fastened by a retention cloth. The mattress has touch different from, for example feather mattress and serves to reduce yarn breakage of the cocoon long-fibers which are used as the stuffing. The stuffing can be easily produced without fail by a process comprising the steps of reeling cocoon threads off boiled cocoons and winding them around a take-up reel, fusing the wound cocoon threads at appropriate positional, and cutting the fused bundles.

摘要: The present invention relates to antibodies that bind to a polypeptide at an epitope in the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 (e.g., a sericin polypeptide). The invention also provides methods and kits using the antibodies of the invention. In some embodiments, the antibody binds to a polypeptide at an epitope in the amino add sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. In some embodiments, the antibody binds to a polypeptide at an epitope in the amino add sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3. In some embodiments, the polypeptide is a sericin polypeptide (e.g., a sericin isoform 1B polypeptide). In a related aspect, the invention features a method for selectively detecting sericin in a sample.

摘要: The invention provides an enhanced silk fiber rivaling spider silk in mechanical performance, in combination with a very low-cost method for producing it from the usual silkworms. The method provides for the simple application of an electric field which results in an enhancement of over (?) 40% in the strength, and of 200% in the breaking energy with respect to ordinary silkworm silk. The critical elasticity is enhanced to the level of the dragline spider silk. The provided enhanced silk protein material has the same protein primary structure, fiber diameter and length of the customary silk. The method of formation offers the following advantages in comparison to other methods available in the prior art. Industrial scale production can be readily and cost-effectively achieved, given the wide-range availability of silkworms. The provided method relies largely on the present standard production processes of silkworm silk, and hence a low level of investment is required. Since no additional chemicals are required, the provided method is environmentally friendly.

摘要: Method to separate polypropylene in the processing of silk schappe, whereby a lap (14) of silk fibers which are partly combed or are at least made sufficiently parallel undergoes an action of heating between 110.degree. C. and 160.degree. C. together with a simultaneous action of controlled compression so as to form clusters of polypropylene and silk fibers and thereafter an action of combing or pre-combing for the definitive removal of those clusters of polypropylene and silk fibers.Device to separate polypropylene in the processing of silk schappe, which is positioned downstream of a drawing frame (13) or analogous machine producing a lap (14) of silk fibers, the device including a conveyor means (belt/drum) cooperating with means that heat and apply adjustable pressure to the lap (14).
