    摘要: A process and composition are provided that provide for thermal transfer of ink compositions and eliminate the need to prepare articles such as sign faces, particularly flexible sign faces, by painting with ink compositions that contain solvents. The present process and composition permit thermal transfer from a carrier to a receptor at low temperatures with the use of vacuum pressure. The transferred ink adheres tenaciously to the receptor and is flexible.

    摘要: A method of forming an opaque image on a substrate is generally provided. The method generally includes the use of three papers: a toner printable sheet, a coating transfer sheet, and an opaque transfer sheet. Toner printing can be utilized to print an image on the toner printable sheet, and then the toner ink can be utilized to remove a portion of a melt coating layer from the coating transfer sheet to form an intermediate imaged coated transfer sheet. This intermediate intermediate imaged coated transfer sheet and the opaque transfer sheet can then be utilized to form an image, defined by the opaque areas, on a substrate.

    摘要: A heat printing sheet having a pattern of a hot melt ink composition on a base, the improvement comprising using a hot melt ink composition which comprises 5-60 wt. parts of a base polymer of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having 5-50 wt. % of the vinyl acetate content and 4-1000 g/10 min. of a melt index or a mixture of said ethylene-vinyl acetate substituted with 10-60 wt. % of the other polymer; and 20-80 wt. parts of a tackifier selected from terpene resins, hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene resins, lower styrene resins, rosins, rosin polyol esters, hydrogenated rosin and rosin polyol esters and alicyclic hydrocarbon resins and 0.1-30 wt. parts of a pigment or dye, and the hot melt ink composition is melted at 80.degree.-250.degree. C and is coated on an engraved roll and is instantaneously printed on a base of synthetic polymer film having 10-100 of a thickness and smooth surface under 0.5-10 Kg/cm.sup.2 (gauge) to form the pattern of the hot melt ink composition having 10-3000 of a thickness.

    摘要: The present invention is a method of applying a heat activated transfer to a cloth substrate. The transfer includes a thermoplastic adhesive layer and printed thereon a thermoset ink layer. The thermoset ink layer is discontinuous leaving exposed areas of thermoplastic material. The transfer is applied by setting the thermoplastic layer against a substrate, such as a cloth shirt, placing a piece of blotting paper or other absorbent material above the transfer in contact with the thermoset layer and applying heat and pressure forcing the thermoplastic material to melt. The thermoplastic material which contacts the blotting material is absorbed by the blotting paper whereas the thermoplastic material covered with the thermoset ink absorbs into the substrate bonding the thermoset ink to the substrate providing an emblem or the like. The invention also includes the article itself which is a heat activated transfer including a continuous thermoplastic layer and a discontinuous thermoset layer leaving voids in between the portions of the thermoset material.
