摘要： A method for the improvement and drainage of a railway track employs a train comprising a working frame-car to carry out the method whereby it is made possible to dismantle and reassemble the track together with its infrastructure. The old track spans are removed, ballast and earth are excavated from the track and replaced by a layer of sand and by new ballast which are distributed, levelled and compacted mechanically. All these operations are taking place in succession through and within the empty frame of said frame-car as the latter is stationary bridging the working site. Two travelling gantries are provided on the train and equipped both with a lifting device for a track span and a lifting and tipping device for buckets. The working car is also equipped with means for excavating, digging, levelling and compacting.

摘要： Material handling apparatus for conveying loose material into an elongated container such as a railroad car. An endless belt conveyor is mounted above and extends the full length of the container. A plurality of equally-spaced, individually, selectively operable discharge stations are disposed along the conveyor for discharging material off the sides of the conveyor into the elongated container, thereby providing for uniform loading of the car. Mechanism is provided for raising the conveyor above the container to permit pivotal side dumping of the container without engagement between the container and the conveyor.

摘要： A mobile apparatus for cleaning ballast supporting a track comprises a train arranged for non-stop movement on the track. The train includes a ballast cleaning machine with a track lifting mechanism, a series of freight cars arranged to receive and transport the waste component from the cleaned ballast, and a ballast tamping machine arranged between the ballast cleaning machine and the series of freight cars, the tamping machine comprising an additional track lifting mechanism and a tamping head capable of intermittent movement along the track. The waste component is conveyed from the ballast cleaning machine to respective freight cars by a first conveyor section arranged to convey the waste component along the series of freight cars and a second conveyor section arranged on the tamping machine. The second conveyor section has an input adjacent the ballast cleaning machine and arranged to receive the waste component therefrom, and an output adjacent the input of the first conveyor section and arranged to deliver the waste component thereto.

摘要： A railroad maintenance device distributes, regulates and reclaims ballast along a railway road bed. The device includes one or more hopper cars for transporting and depositing ballast, a regulating car including a track regulator, a shoulder regulator, and an extensible plow arm for reclaiming ballast deposited at a distance from the shoulder of the road bed. The hopper cars include radio controlled gates for the remote control of ballast depositing operations, and a computer controlled system for optimizing the distribution of ballast according to predetermined parameters. A bucket elevator is located rearwardly of the track regulator for lifting excess ballast from the road bed, and a belt conveyor transports the lifted ballast to a hopper car.

摘要： A unit train consisting of a plurality of hopper cars and a multi-purpose trailer car. The hoppers cars have one or more hoppers each having a bottom discharge opening and a controllable gate. An endless belt conveyor traverses the length of the train including a portion of the trailer car, and underlies the hopper discharge gates so that the hoppers may be emptied sequentially onto the train conveyor to unload the entire train. The trailer car includes a lift portion of the train conveyor to elevate the material for discharge onto a transfer conveyor carried on the trailer car. The elongated transfer conveyor is pivotally mounted at the receiving end to be swung laterally to discharge the material received from the train conveyor at some selected point relative to the trailer car. The trailer car may include the power systems and control systems for operating the conveyors and the hopper gates. The train is self-unloading by depositing the train load in a window alongside the track while the train is moving slowly. For unloading the train in a stationary position, the transfer conveyor may deposit the material onto a portable stacking conveyor which may then deposit the entire train load in one or more stock piles which may be 30 feet high and located some distance from the track.

摘要： In a train of like freight cars used, for instance, for removing rubble from a ballast cleaning machine, each car comprises a storage bin defining a top opening delimited by two end edges. A conveyor means having two ends bridges the top opening in the direction of track elongation. The conveyor means has a plurality of conveyor portions including an endless conveyor band mounted for traveling in a conveying path extending in this direction. The endless conveyor band is driven in this path in reversible directions, and at least some of the conveyor portions are mounted for movement so that a selected conveyor means end projects beyond a respective end edge and into overlapping relationship with an adjacent end of one of the conveyor means ends of an adjacent freight car.
