A movable belt conveyor system for a leach pad for use for sulfidic copper ore, where favorable conditions are to be generated for leaching out the copper by a slight compaction of the ore piled up into a dump for the microbiological leaching technology. The movable belt conveyor system of a length of up to several km is composed of a plurality of smaller belt segments, comprising a tail segment (70), standard segments (711-n) and a head segment (72), as well as a traveling tripper (8). To prevent the loading by these individual components from being excessively compacted by the weight of the device during multiple travel over the dump during the moving process, the belt drives with the driving drum are accommodated in the tail element (70), which is supported on the soil next to the leach pad. In addition, the traveling tripper (8) is designed as an independent unit with the belt drums, additional belt drives and the belt-tensioning means, which unit is autarchically displaceable on a caterpillar-type moving gear (85) of its own. Due to the moving of the belt on the caterpillar-type moving gears of the standard segments (711-n), on the head segment (72) and on the traveling tripper (8) as well as due to the absorption of the weight of the tail segment (70) by the transfer carriage (6), the surface pressure acting locally on the dump is reduced and the compaction of the ore on the dump due to being traveled over by the belt conveyor system remains low. Traveling over with a moving device, which frequently happens with the use of a moving caterpillar, is eliminated.

A self propelled vehicle for transport and placement of an onboard supply of fill material in an onboard hopper. The hopper is connected to said vehicle at a point operatively positioned to discharge fill material placed therein on a conveyor belt mounted to a support structure. The fill material is deposited on the conveyor at a receiving and discharged at the distal end of the conveyor either directly or via a flow director attached to the distal end attached thereto. The flow director bifurcates the stream of fill material allowing the operator to place more or less of the fill in two streams using a plurality of independently adjustable channeling ramps. The hopper is optionally adjustable from an angle normal to the vehicle to allow for adjustment in the vehicle center of gravity on grades. The flow director can also be configured for attachment to existing conveyors to increase their utility or used as part of the entire self propelled device in a single unit. Optionally, the distal end of the conveyor may be elevated or lowered for proper positioning.

The machine includes an auger-type scarfing unit for removing an upper layer of surface soil and directing the soil airborne into a chamber substantially enclosed to the outside environment, a soil separation and first bagging station including a cyclone generator for pneumatically receiving an air stream of soil removed by the scarfing unit and separating soil from the air stream for containment in bags which are periodically discarded from the machine, a filter and second bagging station for filtering remaining particulate matter from the air stream for containment in disposable bags, and a final filter station for removing substantially all remaining particulate matter from the air stream prior to discharge to the environment. The auger unit closely follows the contour of the land and is adjustable for removing predetermined relatively shallow depths of soil so as to eliminate unnecessary soil removal and prevent tainting previously uncontaminated soil.

The present invention relates to a method for padding ground below a duct (1) using excavated soil (2), wherein said method uses a vehicle (6) that comprises a soil feeding organ (13), a transport organ (14) and soil compacting organs (104, 105). The vehicle moves along a ground path (16) which is formed by the soil feeding organ (13) as it collects excavated soil (2). This method allows for a reliable orientation of the soil compacting organs (104, 105) relative to the duct (1), wherein said compacting organs apply a force on the soil previously deposited in the trench (4). This invention also relates to a device which is used for padding ground below a duct (1) and comprises a device (106) for hanging a soil-compacting mechanism (103) to the vehicle (6). The device (106) includes a disconnection mechanism (153) that enables the cyclic displacement of the rammer-type compacting organs (104, 105) in the displacement direction of the vehicle (6). When compacting soil, the working members (171) of the compacting organs (104, 105) are capable of cyclic downward displacement towards each other while simultaneously rotating in a direction in which the angle they define becomes smaller. This system may be used for efficiency compacting soil below a duct (1) while minimising the stress applied by the soil to the surface of said duct (1).

A self propelled apparatus for digging a shallow trench along one side of a roadway is disclosed, and which is useful as part of a roadway widening operation. The apparatus comprises a cutter drum mounted to one side of the chassis of the apparatus, and a conveyor belt is mounted to the same side of the chassis with an inlet end positioned immediately adjacent the cutter drum and an elevated outlet end positioned beyond the forward end of the chassis. An enclosure surrounds the cutter drum so that the drum may be rotated in a downwardly cutting direction, and the loosened soil or other material may be lifted and guided around the drum and deposited onto the conveyor. The cutter drum includes one or more extensions which may be coaxially mounted thereto, so as to permit the width of the cutter drum and thus the width of the resulting trench to be selectively varied.
