    摘要: Corrugated furring strips are used on the outer side of an exterior insulation layer in an exterior wall construction. The corrugated furring strips support a final cladding layer at an offstanding position from the insulation, thereby providing a rainscreen. The corrugated furring strips are fastened to the framework of the wall through the exterior insulation layer. Optional bridging members shaped to conformingly mate with lands and grooves of the corrugated furring straps cooperate therewith to define a support grid with improved load capacity for heavier cladding materials and more fastening location options. The insulation layer is free of any thermal bridges other than the insulation-penetrating fasteners used to support the furring and optional bridges. Thermally insulative washers isolate the furring and optional bridges from the fasteners to further improve the insulating effect of the wall.

Each one of the restraining boards has an I-shaped cross section, an inner panel, an outer panel and a connecting panel. The at least one viewing hole is formed through the restraining element and aligns along the at least one concave edge of the axial segment.

    摘要: A connector in the form of a modified top hat section for securely attaching a building panel to a support member is provided with a guide to assist in accurately locating the fasteners used to attach the connector to the support member with respect to the support member and to guide movement of the fastener as the fastener is rotatingly driven through the connector into the support member to maintain the correct orientation of the fastener to securely attach the connector to the support member. The guide can have a multitude of different forms such as holes, perforations, slots, notches, grooves, lines of weakness and be continuous or in spaced apart relationship to each other. The advantage of the guide is to reduce installation time and effort as well as allowing the top hat section to be securely attached to the support by the fastener having clearance between the strengtheners of the connector and the tapering side wall.

    摘要: Fatigue is prevented in a solid rotary shaft by maintaining it devoid of inflection points and operating it in a pair of bearings to prevent buckling of the shaft because of the bending or vibrating action of applied loads which tend to induce tensile forces in the shaft leading to fatigue failure. This is accomplished by providing at least one longitudinal bore in the shaft and anchoring a closely fitted tensioned tendon in the bore in a manner placing the shaft solely in compression to a degree sufficient to neutralize substantially the tensile stresses induced in the shaft during rotation for maintaining the shaft devoid of reversals of curvature and preventing the creation of an inflection point, the close fit of the tendon in the bore confining the tendon against lateral movement relative to the bore and preventing an inflection point in the tendon. Preferably, there are several bores in the shaft arranged adjacent the periphery thereof, each bore having a closely fitted tensioned tendon anchored therein, the tendons being collectively effective for maintaining the shaft in compression and preventing the creation of an inflection point in the shaft. The tension of the tendons can be varied for controlling the oscillation of the shaft.
