    摘要： A detented and dampened hinge mechanism, with push-pull, and pull-push operation includes a first and second arms pivotally connected to move relative to one another in a scissor fashion between a closed and open positions. A cam and cam follower track establish a detent-type hold at both closed and open positions and add a radial motion component to the general pivotal motion. A damper limits relative movement of the arms. A biasing spring is utilized to bias the first and second arms toward the open position. A free moving anti-gravity ball moves in a channel when a momentum is imparted to the hinge mechanism. With the ball in its normal, lower position, arms are free to move; and moved to an upper position, the arms become locked out from full movement by the interference of the ball. Bumper materials are added.

    摘要： An upper case 5 is pivotable with respect to a case 2 by attachment with two frames 37. A sheet-supply tray 6 is pivotably mounted on the upper case 5. The sheet-supply tray 6 has a pair of left and right guides 35, 35 at a position near a sheet-supply port 13. The guides 35, 35 have a pair of separation ribs 42, 42 that define therebelow a sheet-supply pathway and thereabove a sheet discharge pathway. A synthetic resin hollow frame 40 with an integral slide rib 41 is fixed to the case 2. The slide rib 41 is formed with an outwardly curving surface 41a that is eccentric with an imaginary circle around a pivot shaft 38 of the upper case 5, wherein the free end of the slide rib 41 is farther from the shaft 38 than the fixed end. A horizontally protruding pin is fixed on one of the frames 37, and so pivots following the imaginary circle around the shaft 38. When the upper case 5 is pivoted wide open, the pin 39 pressingly slides against the outwardly curving surface 41a of the slide rib 41, until the pin 39 reaches near the free end of the outwardly curving surface 41a, where the pin 39 is held in a desired opened position.

    摘要： A portable personal computer is provided that includes a main housing having a base and an upper housing erecting on top of the base for containing circuitry of the portable personal computer. The base contains a power supply unit for the computer. The upper housing includes a top end and an inner wall. A display is pivotally attached to the upper housing adjacent the top end of the upper housing such that the display is held against the inner wall of the upper housing in a closed position. A detachable keyboard is provided which has a top row and a bottom row for inputting data into the portable personal computer. The keyboard is mounted onto the portable personal computer and covers the display in the closed position such that the computer constitutes an integrated entity. The keyboard is removed from the computer in an open position for operation. The display is exposed when the keyboard is removed from the computer. The display can swing away from the inner wall of the upper housing in the open position. A latch and detent assembly is also provided for locking the keyboard onto the computer in the closed position and for holding the display at a desired angle for viewing when the display swings away from the inner wall of the upper housing in the open position. The latch and detent assembly for the portable personal computer is also described.
