    摘要: An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine includes an outer housing having a front shell and a rear shell, a prechamber in which exhaust gas from the combustion chamber enters, and an intermediate shell having a front and back as well as a catalytic converter holder. A catalytic converter element is arranged on the catalytic converter holder where an exhaust port directs exhaust gas from the catalytic converter element. To place the center of gravity of the exhaust system near the internal combustion engine or cylinder, the intermediate shell forms the prechamber and the exhaust port.

The muffler includes a housing with an inlet and an exit, a baffle plate partitioning the housing into first and second chambers. The baffle plate includes a catalyst receptacle in the first chamber, the second chamber includes the exit of the housing. A catalytic converter element with a longitudinal axis is housed within the catalyst receptacle, the catalytic converter element is positioned within the catalyst receptacle such that exhaust gas passes through the catalytic converter element in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the catalytic converter element and through the second chamber to exit the housing.

    摘要: A tuned exhaust system for small two cylinder engines, the exhaust system including a pair of exhaust passage through which exhaust gasses pass. The exhaust passages are dimensioned to providing a tuning effect to the exhaust gasses for enhanced engine performance. The exhaust passages are not straight and elongated, but rather are sprialed, scrolled, coiled, or otherwise folded upon themselves at least twice. In this manner, the exhaust passages may be housed at least in part within a muffler having a significantly reduced overall size or profile, such that the muffler may be used in small engines.

    摘要: A catalytic converter assembly for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine, in particular for a small engine. The catalytic converter assembly has a housing and a catalytic converter formed of at most two layers formed of sheets disposed in the housing. The catalytic converter has an at least partially curved elongated body and at least one structured sheet with a structuring and a catalytically active material. The at least one structured sheet is wound on inclinedly around the elongated body and at least partially bears against the housing. The structuring of the at least one structured sheet in addition with one of the housing and a sheet of a layer of the at most two layers define closed passages there-between through which exhaust gases can flow and such that, as considered over the cross-section of the housing, a cross-sectional area bordered in by the closed passages constitutes at least half of a total of the cross-sectional area of the housing.

    摘要: The exhaust muffler as a tailpipe head member including a front end mounted inside an expansion chamber of the muffler. The front end of the head member deflects exhaust gas pressure waves passing through the chamber. An annular passage is provided by the space separating the front end of the head member and the expansion chamber. A flow regulating conduit communicates exhaust gas from the annular passage to an outside of the muffler. The front portion of the expansion chamber can be provided with a series of annular flange steps for mounting onto various sizes of annular flanges of exhaust manifolds. The exhaust muffler both reduces noise levels and improves performance of the engine.

    摘要: A muffler devised particularly for a small, reciprocating-piston two-stroke internal combustion engine of the type used on unmanned aerial vehicles. The muffler comprises a body incorporating an inlet, an outlet, and a plurality of chambers for exhaust gas flow from the inlet to the outlet. The body is configured to present a compact profile for installation on the engine. The chambers are so configured that adjacent chambers communicate to facilitate exhaust gas flow from the inlet to the outlet via flow passages. The various chambers comprise an inner chamber, an outer chamber, and one or more intervening chambers disposed between the inner and outer chambers. The various chambers are disposed one about another in annular formation. This arrangement creates a long flow path from the inlet to the outlet incorporating various directional changes.
