Abstract:
A torque enhancement device having torque enhancement member(s) with each having an exterior (preferably bi-symmetric or essentially bi-symmetric) surface configuration with parallel, longer side walls extending in a Y-axis direction and shorter side walls extending in an X-axis direction and corner recesses positioned between ends of adjacent longer and shorter side walls, and with some embodiments of the invention featuring a torque enhancement device having a hole extending in a Z-axis direction. A fastener assembly is also provided that includes one or more torque enhancement devices as well as methods for utilization of the torque enhancement device or utilization or assemblage of an assembly including a torque enhancement device. The surface configuration includes arrangements where there is a torque differential in one direction or the other as well as arrangements that are adapted to handle both standard fastener configurations and torque enhancement configurations with a common torque enhancement device.
Abstract:
A plate puller device can include a head portion and extension rod portion. The device enables the fastener receiving member to be pulled against a bone surface before a head section of the fastener is advanced within the fastener receiving member into a locked position. The head portion can be positioned between the head section of the fastener and a surface of the fastener receiving member not adjacent to the bone surface. Also, a plate puller device can include a screwdriver, a grasper portion and a grasper sleeve. The grasper portion and grasper sleeve can be threadingly mated wherein rotation of the grasper sleeve forces a head portion of the grasper portion to grip the head section of the fastener to prevent the head section from advancing within the fastener receiving member.
Abstract:
An anti-splay closure with a multi-surfaced aperture, such as a multi-lobular socket, includes a cylindrical body with an external, continuous, helically extending anti-splay guide and advancement flange and a breakaway installation head. The multi-lobular socket includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced lobes extending parallel to a closure axis of the plug and which circumferentially alternate with spline receiving grooves extending parallel to the closure axis. The closure is used with an open headed bone implant screw having arms that are provided with internal, helically extending mating guide and advancement structures complementary to the body flange to allow slidable mating with the body upon rotation thereof and radial interlocking between the arms and the body.
Abstract:
A device for supporting an article on a structure. The support device includes an elongate body with a head at one end, a neck, a shoulder flange, and an elongate threaded shank with threads extending therefrom. The head and/or neck may be arranged to engage the article, and the shoulder flange has a surface for engaging a corresponding surface of the structure. The elongate shank portion anchors the support device at a target site on the structure and tapers from a greatest diameter proximate to the shoulder flange to a pointed end. The initial taper is at a lesser angle to the longitudinal axis of the elongate body to a point where the angle increases, before which the threads may terminate.
Abstract:
The fastening metal fitting which allows satisfactory fastening by a hexalobular wrench at the time of assembly and allows loosing or fastening not only by a hexalobular wrench but also by a wide use of wrenches such as a common hexagon wrench at the time of disassembly and repair, which includes the head and the axial portion having the screw portion, in which at the center of the head, the tool insertion hole is formed with the hexagonal socket portion and the circularly-arced notched portions outwardly protruding from the respective corners of the socket portion which are provided at the corners continuously. The bolt which can be fastened or loosen by a wide use of a 12-point wrench, an open-end wrench for a hexagon head bolt or a square head bolt, a common hexagon wrench and a hexalobular wrench is formed to be a regular square as seen from the top with the four triangular projections on diagonals of the vertical line and the horizontal line passing the center of a regular dodecagon removed from the regular dodecagon and is formed to have the V-shaped engaging slots left at the respective corners, as well as having, at the center of the head, the hole of a regular hexagonal shape which has the circularly-arced notched portions outwardly protruding from the respective corners of the hole which are provided at the corners continuously.
Abstract:
A fastener placement system for placement of screws into bone structure during a medical procedure comprises a power driven screw driver, a fastener carrier system with a series of fasteners temporarily attached thereto and an elongated band structure carried by the fastener carrier system for positioning and advancing the individual fasteners of the series of medical fasteners in a controlled manner to a position to receive a driving tip on the powered screw driver. The head of the fastener and the tip of the screw driver have complementary structures which allow the screw head to be simultaneously grasped by the driver tip and the fastener to be driven in a rotary manner for placement into the bone structure.
Abstract:
A metallic head of a fastener includes merlon portions between crenel portions. The crenel portions form a slot which may be used to tighten or loosen the fastener. An insulating material covers portions of the metallic head to prevent human contact with the metallic head and terminal lugs secured thereby. The metallic head defines a counter bore portion. Inner walls of the counter bore portion may be formed into a hexagon. The insulating material may extend into the counter bore portion covering the inner walls, as well as the surfaces of the crenel portions. The bottom of the counter bore may remain uncovered to facilitate signal testing with a test probe.
Abstract:
A threaded screw fastener is provided with thread structure wherein each thread of the threaded screw fastener comprises rearward and forward flank surfaces which effectively serve to enhance the pull-out resistance characteristics or properties of the threaded screw fastener while reducing the installation or insertion torque characteristics or properties of the threaded screw fastener. In addition, the forward and rearward flank surfaces of adjacent threads are separated from each other a predetermined amount so as to effectively capture overlapped edge portions of adjacent roofing panels in order to prevent backing out of the threaded screw fasteners even when the roofing panels undergo expansion and contraction as a result of being exposed to cyclically varying environmental or weather conditions.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a support device for supporting an article on a structure, the support device comprising an elongate body having a support head portion located at one end thereof, the support head portion including a head and a shoulder flange, the head and shoulder flange being separated by a neck, the head and/or neck being arranged to engage the article, the shoulder flange having a surface for engaging a corresponding surface of the structure, the elongate body further comprising an elongate shank portion for anchoring the support device at a target site on the structure.
Abstract:
A screw (1) is provided with a shank (3), a head (2) and a boring part (5). The shank (3) is provided with a thread (4). The head (2) has a shoulder (6) disposed at an axial distance (B) from the bearing face (12), while a portion (7) adjoining the shoulder on the shank side is provided with a tool drive (8). The head (2) of the screw can therefore be seized in axially secure manner by a tool in the region of the shoulder (6), and this tool can then simultaneously transmit the necessary torque in the region of the tool drive (8) as well.
