The screw is screwed into the bore until the stop position is reached and a screw- and/or motor base-deformation strain is applied at the discontinuity in order to deform the side surface of the screw and/or motor base (SM) and permanently attach the screw and/or motor base by wedging in the discontinuity.

The invention relates to a crank (14) which is intended for the windscreen wiper mechanism of a motor vehicle. The inventive crank is of the type that comprises a horizontal body (16) having a first end (14a) which is linked in rotation to a wiper arm and a second end (14b) which is articulated to a connecting rod. The aforementioned body (16) comprises: a segment (22) which can be deformed in order to adjust the distance between the ends (14a, 14b) of the crank (14), and a longitudinal oblong hole (24) which divides the aforementioned segment (22) into two deformable longitudinal branches (26) which are symmetrical in relation to a center line of said segment (22). The invention is characterized in that the oblong hole (24) takes the form of a quadrilateral with two essentially-perpendicular diagonals (E1, E2), the larger diagonal (E1) extending along the main axis (C) of symmetry of the segment (22) and intersecting the small diagonal (E2) at the midpoint thereof.

A wiper apparatus for use in a motor vehicle with a pivot extending from an interior side of a vehicle body toward the external and penetrating a pivot holder that is fixed integrally onto the vehicle body. The pivot is rotatable with respect to the pivot holder and further holds a wiper arm at its penetrating tip portion. An outer circumferential surface of the pivot has an engaging groove that is fitted with an elastic retainer ring to retain the pivot on the pivot holder. An upper side surface of the engaging groove is an inclined surface so that the retaining ring can get out of the engaging groove with the aid of the inclined groove side surface when the pivot is pressed downwardly. Thus, the pivot can be easily removed from the pivot holder for replacement or the like, and if a large shock load acts on the pivot, it is possible to prevent the shock load from reaching the entire wiper apparatus or the vehicle body.
