    摘要: An incremental braking method and system in which a braked member which is in motion, e.g., a brake drum, is engaged by a series of flexible stops on a braking member, e.g., a brake shoe, to brake the braked member. A rigid stop on the braked member sweeps past the flexible stops on the braking member to cause vibrations. The vibrations are damped as the flexible stops engage the braked member, thereby inhibiting the motion of the braked member. The flexible stops are of unequal lengths and are provided on springs which allow them to retract into the braking member. In this way, the stops incrementally engage the braked member for smoother and more efficient braking.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a vehicle brake and hub comprising a ring braking member having braking surfaces both to the interior and exterior of the member in combination with a cast hub which includes centrally disposed aligned bearing ports for receiving bearings. The cast hub includes an outwardly exposed securing surface which cooperates with the ring braking member to effect securement of the braking member to the casting and in a manner to accommodate heat transfer therebetween. The cast hub includes intermediate the securing surface and the align ports, fan blades which cause during rotation of the hub an axial flow of air to move across the bearing ports and to extract heat from the fan blades and the securing surface. The fan blades collectively interconnect and structurally secure the securing surface and the bearing ports.

    摘要: A drum brake assembly is described to comprise a dual drum brake housing mounted to a vehicle wheel or shaft to be rotated therewith. The dual drum brake housing has two axially extending, concentric, radially spaced drum surfaces defining an annular channel between them. A torque member is fixed against rotation with the vehicle wheel and an expandable friction lining assembly is mounted to the torque member. The friction lining assembly is positioned within the annular channel and carries radially outward and radially inward facing friction linings. Upon expansion of the friction lining assembly each of the friction linings is moved into contact with the corresponding drum surface, thereby transferring braking force to the wheel. Heat dissipation means are provided for communicating heat from said drum brake assembly to the atmosphere, which means comprises a finned tube extending within said annular channel and forming with the friction lining assembly an endless conduit adapted to receive pressurized fluid to actuate the brake. Preferably, an electrically actuated oscillating piston pump is placed in-line in the finned tube to circulate fluid within the endless conduit.
