Abstract: A load binder for securing a load, the load binder comprising an elongated threaded contraction expansion assembly including an elongated threaded member and opposing threaded end screws, with the elongated threaded member having opposing ends with opposite screw threading, wherein the threading in the elongated threaded contraction expansion assembly is constructed and arranged to provide common contraction or extension of the respective opposing threaded screws when the elongated threaded member is rotated one direction or another and the opposing threaded screws, a driven link chain sheave, a drive shaft, a primary link chain drive sheave, an external hex drive, and a link chain movably engaged with the driven link chain sheave and the primary link chain drive sheave, wherein the external hex drive can be rotated to turn the primary link chain drive sheave to either draw the ends of the threaded screws closer together or drive them further apart.

Abstract: A tensioning device comprised of; a gear box containing a bevel gear assembly inside the gear box with one gear attached directly to a barrel which passes through the gear box and threaded shafts at either end of the barrel. Inside the gear box is a guide which is placed such that a drive gear and the barrel gear are engaged when assembled and a socket wrench receptacle is part of the drive gear. The threaded shafts move in and out of the barrel based on the rotation of the gear. The tensioning device uses direct gearing of the rotational motion of the drive gear to rotate the barrel causing the shafts to be linearly displaced tightening or loosening a chain, cable or strap.

Abstract: A belt splicer (80) for butt-welding conveyor belts with longitudinal walls and methods for splicing belts. The belt splicer (82, 83) has bridges supporting belt clamps (88) above clamp jaws (12, 13). The bridges are attached at opposite ends to the corresponding jaws. Slots (96) along intermediate spans of the bridges allow the belt clamps to be adjustable positioned along the bridges. Adjacent belt clamps can be positioned with a space between them to accommodate the walls.

Abstract: A belt welding apparatus is provided for joining together the ends of one or more monolithic conveyor belts. In one form, a belt support is configured to support the belt ends in spaced relation to each other and a non-contact heating device is provided for being disposed between the belt ends to generate thermal radiation for joining the belt ends together. In one form, the non-contact heating device is a ribbon heating device. In another form, a drive mechanism is operable to cause relative movement of a pair of platens, for supporting belt ends, toward and away from each other and a heating device between heating and stowed positions. An actuator of the drive mechanism is movable by an operator between at least three operation positions corresponding to three different operation positions of the platens.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a rigid tie down in the field of mechanics, which addresses the problems of the existing tie downs, for example, they occupy a large space and have a low binding efficiency. The rigid tie down comprises a body, a first hook and a second hook provided on both ends of the body, and a handle connected to the body. The body has a cylindrical shape. The first hook has a first screw thereon, and the second hook has a second screw thereon. The first screw is threadedly connected with one end of the body, and the second screw is threadedly connected with the other end of the body. The direction of the threads of the first screw is reverse to that of the second screw. Abstract: A band joining system including a method of preparing and making a join in a band, a tool for supporting the band when making the join and an attachment for a hot air gun to facilitate making the join. The tool has first and second arms pivotally attached to one another in a scissor type configuration and having first and second guide means associated with the arms for supporting band end regions during the formation of a join. According to the method, band ends are cut in such a fashion that they fit within guide regions of the guide means and supported in a configuration in which the hot air gun attachment may be interposed between the two band end regions supported in the tool, hot air applied to the band end regions and then compressive force used to bring the molten band end regions into contact with one another to form a welded join. The band end regions are cut such that each band end region retains elements of a central reinforcing member, those elements aiding the formation of a strong join.

Abstract: A pair of belt clamps is used for tensioning a conveyor belt to join its ends. Each clamp comprises a channel member and a rectangular bar member sized to span the width of the belt. The channel member has parallel sidewalls and a center wall defining two channels sized to receive the narrow dimension of the bar member together with a thickness of the belt. Two pivotable links connect the ends of the bar member to the end of the center wall. The clamp is connected to a conventional haulage device via a rigid loop mounted on the bar member radially of the axis of rotation of such member about the connecting links. Pulling the loop lengthwise of the belt rotates the bar member into one of the channels to clamp the belt therein. The sidewall of the unused channel engages the underside of the belt to resist any tendency of the channel member to rotate.
