摘要: A lock-up device for a torque converter includes a clutch part, a piston, a lock-up oil chamber, a cancellation oil chamber and a cancellation hydraulic pressure maintenance circuit. The clutch part is disposed in a power transmission path between a front cover and a transmission-side member. The piston is provided to be movable in an axial direction. The lock-up oil chamber is supplied with hydraulic oil for moving the piston to turn the clutch part into a power transmission activated state. The cancellation oil chamber is provided on the opposite side of the lock-up oil chamber through the piston, and is supplied with the hydraulic oil. The cancellation hydraulic pressure maintenance circuit is provided in an oil passage for leading the hydraulic oil discharged from the cancellation oil chamber to the transmission side, and maintains the cancellation oil chamber at a predetermined hydraulic pressure.

摘要: A torque converter transmits a torque from a drive source to an input shaft of a transmission. The torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller, a turbine and a lock-up device. The torque is inputted to the front cover. The impeller is fixed to the front cover. The turbine is disposed in opposition to the impeller, and is coupled to the input shaft of the transmission. The lock-up device mechanically transmits the torque from the front cover to the turbine. The lock-up device includes a piston, a damper mechanism and a friction generating mechanism. The piston is disposed between the front cover and the turbine so as to be axially movable, and is capable of being engaged by friction with the turbine. The damper mechanism transmits the torque from the front cover to the piston. The friction generating mechanism generates a hysteresis torque on the piston by frictional resistance.

摘要: A vehicle includes an engine, a continuously variable transmission and a torque converter that has a lock-up clutch. The torque converter is arranged between the engine and the continuously variable transmission. The vehicle further includes engine accessories such as an air conditioner compressor and alternator that are driven by the engine. In this vehicle, a slip control is executed that produces a predetermined slip rotational state by controlling a lock-up capacity of the lock-up clutch. During slip control of the lock-up clutch, the engine-equipped vehicle executes cooperative control that suppresses load fluctuations of engine accessories such as the air conditioner compressor and the alternator.

The damper assembly includes at least one cover plate, a flange for driving engagement with a transmission input shaft, and a first resilient element drivingly engaged with the at least one cover plate and the flange. The torque converter has a second resilient element for urging the turbine assembly away from the cover assembly.

摘要: Disclosed are engine flexplates with integrated engine disconnects, methods for making and for using such flexplates, and motor vehicles with an engine flexplate having an integrated engine disconnect device. An engine flexplate assembly is disclosed for operatively coupling an engine to a hydrokinetic torque converter. The flexplate assembly includes a disk-shaped body with a central hub that rigidly attaches on the fore side thereof to the engine output shaft for common rotation therewith. A disconnect device, which is positioned on the aft side of the disk-shaped body, includes concentric inner and outer races. The outer race is rigidly attached to the disk-shaped body for common rotation therewith. The inner race rigidly attaches to the front cover of the TC housing for common rotation therewith. The disconnect device operatively disconnects the engine output shaft from the TC housing front cover when a torque transmitted therebetween reverses direction.

A method of making a friction material composite, the method comprising: forming a base layer, having oppositely disposed first and second surfaces and a first density, and including a plurality of fibers and a filler material; mixing a friction modifier and an organosilane coupling agent to form a mixture; applying the mixture uniformly to the first surface of the base layer to form a friction modifying surface layer, having oppositely disposed third and fourth surfaces and a second density, and an interfacial bonding layer therebetween; and, saturating the base layer, the interfacial bonding layer, and the friction modifying surface layer with a binder.
