Abstract: A linear actuator comprising a shaft and a nut that translates within a linear range of motion in response to relative rotation between the nut and shaft, a stop positioned at a travel limiting position and having an inner portion connected to the shaft, a radially compliant outer portion axially overlapping the inner portion and configured to rotate relative to the inner portion, and a cam roller portion disposed radially between the inner and outer portions and configured to move relative to a neutral orientation in response to relative rotation between the inner and outer portions, and the outer portion configured to radially bias the cam roller portion towards the neutral orientation; wherein rotation of the outer portion caused by the nut rotating into the outer portion provides an outward radial load at the cam roller portion on the outer portion that is absorbed by the outer portion.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to an electro-mechanical actuator that includes a screw, structurally segregated (split) housings, first and second nuts coupled to the screw, a sensor assembly, a plurality of motors, and a controller. The first nut is coupled to a first mounting point, and the second nut is coupled to a second mounting point. The sensor assembly may generate signals indicative of (e.g., relative) positions of left and right units of the actuator or positions of the first nut and the second nut on the screw. The controller controls the motors based on the signals generated by the sensor assembly. The motors may rotate each nut about a screw axis of the screw. This rotation results in one or both nuts moving along the screw. Movement between the first nut and the second nut along the screw adjusts a distance between the first mounting point and the second mounting point.

Abstract: An actuator assembly includes a threaded shaft, a threaded nut that is threadably coupled to the threaded shaft, an annular ratchet positioned about the threaded shaft and comprising one or more tracks, and a pin that extends from the threaded shaft and into the one or more tracks. The threaded nut may include a first circumferentially-facing surface, the annular ratchet may include a second circumferentially-facing surface, and the first and second circumferentially-facing surfaces are configured to contact one another to enable the threaded nut to block rotation of the annular ratchet with the threaded shaft. The actuator assembly may enable the threaded nut to move to a limit position and hold full motor torque, but also to break free from the limit position with relatively low torque (e.g., less than the full motor torque; as compared to actuator systems that are devoid of certain features of the actuator assembly).

Abstract: A sensor assembly for determining a number of rotations of a permanent magnet includes a first sensor. The permanent magnet has an axis of rotation, end surfaces lying in an X-Y plane, a central axis, and exactly two poles. The two poles are disposed in the X-Y plane on mutually opposite sides of the permanent magnet so that the permanent magnet is magnetized diametrically. Abstract: The present invention is directed to a linear actuator including an external adjustable variable limit switch. The linear actuator allows the position of the limit switch to be adjusted without disassembling the linear actuator or motor. In one embodiment, the linear actuator includes a profile tube having an upper end and a lower end, a slot that runs from the upper end to the lower end of the profile tube, and an internal track that runs from the upper end to the lower end of the profile tube. The linear actuator also includes at least one limit switch mounted on the slot and a limit switch adjuster and a locking fastener configured to permit the position of the limit switch to be adjusted without disassembly of the linear actuator or motor. The limit switch adjuster is further configured to be positioned in the internal track.

Abstract: An electro-mechanical linear actuator is provided and includes a housing. A motor is supported within the housing and includes an output shaft. A gear package includes a drive package. The gear package is configured to engage the motor such that rotation of the output shaft provides rotation of the gear package. A lead screw engages the gear package such that rotation of the gear package provides rotation of the lead screw. A nut assembly engages the lead screw such that rotation of the output shaft causes axial travel of the nut assembly. A drag link is coupled to the nut assembly such as to provide axial travel of the drag link. An electrical connector is formed as a single unitary body with the housing and is configured to receive an electrical connector in electrical communication with an external controller.

Abstract: An angle-measuring device is provided for a rotationally-driven linear actuator, which can be implemented into a clutch actuator. A rotor element has an axis of rotation and rotates concentrically with a rotor of a rotary drive for an axially movable linear actuator element. A measurement magnet arrangement is fixed relative to the rotor element and has a polarization. The polarization is oriented in such a way that the magnetic field lines can change with a rotation of the rotor element so as to enable the angle to be precisely determined from at least one measurement position. At one location, a 360-degree sensor is provided for measuring angular positions based on the measurement magnet arrangement. At another location, a revolution-counting sensor is provided for counting a number of revolutions carried out based on the measurement magnet arrangement.
