    摘要: A pressure-tight stein cylinder seal and a self-energizing stein shoulder seal matching the stein cylinder seal that both use an equilaterally triangular soft ring as their sealing element, wherein their designing rules are first, by means of wedging function of a hard gland coaxial with the stein cylinder, to convert their original axial tightening force 2f respectively into a radial compression force 4f/√3 of their soft ring 04 on the stein 02 cylinder and another radial compression force 2f of their soft ring 06 on the stein 02 shoulder and ensure that the two soft rings are so compressed from a great room to a small room as to be able to pass a pressure or stress exactly to each different direction, then to cut off their off-stein corners to give their cavities an opening or give each soft ring an axial compressing allowance, and last, by means of anti-extrusion metallic C-rings without axial resistance, to close each opening to provide a full support for the sealing deformation of their soft rings compressed in their cavities.

    摘要: A sealing hub assembly is provided for a valve having a stem boss and a stem rotatably received in the stem boss. The stem is normally rotated by a motor/actuator. To seal a leaking stem, a hub body is connected to the stem boss which is also used to releasably mount the motor/actuator. An adapter is threaded into the hub body. A stem extender is rotatably supported in the adapter which is coupled at a first end for co-rotation with the stem, and is coupled at a second end to the motor/actuator. To provide an external fluid seal for the leaking stem, a first seal is positioned between the stem extender and the adapter, and a second seal is positioned between the adapter and the stem boss.

    摘要: A valve with fire-resistant seal for use in industrial piping applications. The valve includes a valve body with a valve element therein. The valve is illustrated as a ball valve, but other valve configurations could also be used. A valve stem engages the valve element so that it can be rotated between open and closed positions. A conventional primary seal is used on the valve stem for normal conditions. The valve body defines a body bearing surface, and the valve stem defines a facing stem bearing surface. A thrust bearing is disposed between the body and stem bearing surfaces, and a fire-resistant seal is positioned radially inwardly from the thrust bearing. Initially, the fire-resistant seal is not engaged with at least one of the body or stem bearing surfaces, and the fire-resistant seal has a thickness less than an initial thickness of the thrust bearing. If the valve is subjected to heat such that the thrust bearing is destroyed or damaged, pressure loading on the valve stem forces the fire-resistant seal into sealing engagement between the body and valve stem. At least a portion of the fire-resistant seal is forced into a cavity defined in the body by a chamfered surface.

    摘要: A valve assembly configured to maintain a seal during thermal cycling includes a valve body defining a flow passage, and a fluid control member disposed in the flow passage for controlling the flow of fluid. An actuating shaft is interconnected with the fluid control member for moving the fluid control member. A housing including an internal wall defining a shaft bore is connected to the valve body, and the actuating shaft extends through the shaft bore with the internal wall of the housing radially spaced from the actuating shaft to define a sealing cavity. A seal is located within the sealing cavity for inhibiting fluid flow between the actuating shaft and the housing. The seal includes a plurality of first surfaces and the housing defines a plurality of opposed surfaces such that sealing contact of the seal with the actuating shaft and the housing is maintained during thermal cycling.
