    摘要: The invention relates to a fastening arrangement of a pipe, which is coaxial to a longitudinal axis, on a shaft step, which is rotatably mounted around the longitudinal axis, for connecting of the two component parts, with a coaxial circumferential surface located on the shaft step, upon which circumferential surface at least partially lies the inner side of the pipe end which faces the shaft step. In order to disclose the creation of a fastening arrangement which is especially simple and inexpensive to manufacture and also free of wear during operation, it is proposed that the pipe end has notches distributed over the circumference, and an encompassing annular slot on the inner side of the pipe in the region of the notches, with a sleeve which is installed in the annular slot, covers the notches, and at least partially lies on the circumferential surface of the shaft step.

    摘要: A high temperature tube and shell vertically positioned heat exchanger including a plurality of tube sheets dividing the interior of the shell into three consecutive chambers. Ceramic tubes are vertically hung from hemispherical seats in an upper tube sheet and extend downwardly through loose fitting porous inserts which line perforations in the lower tube sheets. A hot fluid flows from the bottom chamber upwardly through the ceramic tubes, a cool fluid flows through the upper chamber across the tubes, and a third fluid is injected into the intermediate chamber at a pressure higher than that of the fluid mediums in the upper and lower chambers. The third, high pressure fluid flows through the porous inserts and into the other chambers forming a dynamic seal which also allows unrestricted axial motion of the tubes and limited laterial motion of the bottom of the tubes.

    摘要: A method of welding a pipe to a pipe plate conprises slipping a ring over the pipe, the adjoining surfaces of the ring being in contact with the pipe surface and with the pipe plate surface over the entire circumference, inserting the pipe end over a short distance into a bore in the pipe plate, rolling the end of the pipe against the bore wall whereby a clamping contact between the pipe end and the bore wall is achieved and welding the pipe end to the pipe plate with the aid of a nonconsumable electrode under conditions that only a portion of the cross section of the ring melts. It is preferable, after welding the end of the pipe within the interior of the bore to melt completely the ring and to achieve a second weld joint. In this last step, one or more circular welds between the pipe end and the inner surface of the bore are made.

    摘要: An impermeable non-rigid seal is made between the joints of silicon carbide heat exchanger tubes and their supporting silicon carbide tube sheets by first making suitable openings for the tubes through the tube sheet before it is fired. Concentric with the small tube opening is a somewhat larger countersunk second opening, the bottom of the countersink forming a shoulder for the retention of packing material. A third countersink is made, larger than the second, to form a recess in which a graphite plug may be bonded. The tube sheet is infiltrated with silicon in a high temperature furnace and the graphite plug drilled and threaded to engage corresponding threads on a cylindrical packing follower. A silicon carbide tube is inserted in the tube sheet and packing material placed around it. The packing is enclosed by sliding the packing follower over the end of the tube and engaging it with the threaded graphite plug. Rotating the follower then compresses the packing to make an impermeable nonrigid seal between the tube and tube sheet.
