摘要: A method of processing a bismuth brass article includes the steps of machining an extruded brass rod to form an article of a desired shape and annealing the article at an annealing temperature that is no greater than 575° F./302° C. to relieve stress caused by the machining. The extruded brass rod includes a composition, by weight percentage, that includes 58-63 of copper, 0.8-1.5 of bismuth, 0.05-0.15 of phosphorous and a remainder of zinc and any impurities.

摘要: There is provided a common rail which can effectively restrict a generation of a stress in a lower end inner peripheral edge portion of a branch hole and can improve an internal pressure fatigue strength in a branch pipe connecting portion, so that a secure and stable function can be obtained by having an excellent durability and preventing a fluid leakage due to a generation of the crack generation and a method of manufacturing a common rail in which a pressure application process by the press is only added to a normal manufacturing process, no complex equipment is required, a common rail having a high quality can be manufactured by a low cost without generating problems that an equipment cost is increased by an increase of the process and a productivity is reduced. In the method of the invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing a common rail comprising at least one branch hole provided in an axial peripheral wall portion of a main pipe rail having a communication passage inside an axial core, a pressure receiving seat surface communicating with a branch pipe having a communication passage communicating with the communication passage in a peripheral surface portion of the branch hole and open to an outer portion, thereby bringing a pressing seat surface portion constituted by a connection head portion disposed in an end portion of the branch pipe into contact and engaging therewith, and a joint metal fitting surrounding an outer peripheral portion of the main pipe rail and a nut previously assembled in the branch pipe end which are meshed with each other so as to be pressed under a neck portion of the connection head portion, thereby being fastened and connected, wherein a pressing force is applied to the main pipe rail near the branch hole from an outer portion to a diametrical direction by a press method, thereby generating a compression residual stress at a portion near the open end portion of the communication passage of the main pipe rail in the branch hole.

摘要: A tubular body having integral branch tubes for use in a distribution tank of a car air conditioner and a method for producing such tubular body. The tubular body is produced almost solely by a deformation process. The process for forming the tubular body includes a swelling step for swelling the sheet metal at predetermined positions to create cylindrically swelled portions by several stages, a boring step for boring the top end of the swelled portion to create branch tubes, a channel creating step for creating mating channel throughout the whole length of the sheet metal, a rounding step for rounding the sheet metal to form a tube having a desired sectional shape, and a mating step for mating the end of the rounded sheet metal with the mating channel. The production process further includes a divider creating step for dividing the space in the tubular body into a plurality of compartments by squeezing the tubular body. Preferably, the production method further includes a thickness increasing step for increasing the thickness at the mating channel.

摘要: A common rail is provided for promoting inner pressure fatigue strength at location in proximity to a branch pipe. The common rail includes a main pipe rail with a main flow path. At least one boss in provided on the peripheral wall and includes a branch hole communicating the main flow path. The branch pipe is provided with a connecting head that has a pressing face at and end of the branch pipe. The pressing face of the branch pipe is urged into a pressure receiving seat of the boss. A compressive residual stress is provided at location in the peripheral wall where the main flow path of the main pipe rail communicates with the branch hole. The compressive residual stress increases the pressure fatigue strength by substantially canceling tensile stress.

摘要: A manifold for a heat exchanger is formed by placing a blank having a siamesed pair of tubular passages supported by a first mandrel into a die cavity which receives the blank and defines at least one riser channel extending from the cavity. Each riser channel includes a core such that when a punch forces the blank into the die cavity, the blank is formed as desired and a portion of the blank is forged into the riser channel and around the core. The portion of the sidewall of the blank adjacent to the tubular risers is thickened such that the sidewall of the resulting manifold is substantially uniform after forging. After forging, the blank is removed from the die and the first mandrel is removed. The manifold is completed by inserting a second mandrel including holes in substantial alignment with the tubular risers and forcing punches into the tubular risers to remove the remaining material which separates the risers from the passages. The cores include sharp forming edges between terminal end surfaces and forming surfaces extending around the cores to define the forming heads. Recesses, depressions, patterns of grooves or the like are formed in the end surfaces of the cores. The cores include forming heads with the remainder of the cores and/or riser channels being relieved to facilitate removal of the risers from the riser channels. The riser channels and/or cores can be shaped to form defined distal ends on the tubular risers.
