摘要:
An igniter element for igniting solid fuel particles in a retort furnace is disclosed. The igniter element is a substantially planar shaped element that is in direct contact with the fuel to be ignited. A configuration of various sections is formed into the planar igniter element in order to facilitate the conversion of electrical energy into thermal energy. The igniter element uses a control system to reliably facilitate the ignition of all solid fuels including difficult to start fuels, such as anthracite coal. The service life of the heat igniter is extended by its planar shape in contact with the surface of the retort and its ability to dissipate the thermal energy produced within the retort region.

This invention relates to the combustion of metal-containing scrap rubber such as used tires in a combustion chamber equipped with a traveling-grate stoker without allowing binding of molten metal to the stoker for effective utilization of scrap rubber as a fuel for a boiler or the like. On the traveling-grate stoker of the combustion chamber, which travels from a rear part to a front part of the chamber, blocks of coal supplied from a coal feeding port in the front wall of the chamber is cast by a spreader into the chamber to form coal deposits in a substantially uniform thickness on the stoker for combustion. At the same time, scrap rubber is fed from a chute discharging into the combustion chamber through a side wall defining the chamber via a rotary valve built into the chute in adequate amounts and burned on the ash zone formed by already burned coal on the traveling-grate stoker.

A boiler according to the invention contains an additional air channel (9) with an inbuilt fan (10) with adjustable output. The first end (91) of the additional air channel (9) is connected with the under-stoker space (11) located outside of the wind boxes (5) of the under-stoker wind boxes system (4). The other end (9′) of the additional air channel (9) is connected with either the space of the channel (6) supplying outside air to the wind boxes (5) or with the atmosphere or with the secondary air channel of the combustion chamber (2). Modernization of the existing boilers consists in installation in the described above method of an additional air channel (9) with an inbuilt fan (10). The method of elimination of uncontrolled leakages in a stoker-fired boiler consist in leading out and air, getting through air gaps, from the under-stoker space of the boiler located outside of the wind boxes (5) to the described above additional air channel (6), wherein current output of the fan (10) built into this channel is proportional to the current difference between temperature of air supplied to the wind boxes (5) and temperature of air in the additional air channel (6).

This invention relates to a boiler installation for the combustion of solid fuels, for example forest waste material in the form of e.g. bark and/or chips, peat pellets, coal etc., which installation comprises a furnace located in connection to a heat medium portion and a grate located in the furnace. The grate feeds fuel from a fuel charge opening through the furnace while the fuel is being combusted, from which furnace the flue gases flow to the heat medium portion and continue to a chimney. The installation also includes at least one intake for controlled supply of combustion air in the form of at least primary and secondary combustion air. In order to improve the efficiency degree of such boiler installations and to render possible efficient and complete combustion of forest waste material and other biologic fuels, which may have a high moisture content, the rear portion of the grate means of the boiler installation, seen in the direction of movement, is located outside of the furnace space proper but connected thereto for forming a zone in connection to the charge opening for a certain drying of the fuel before it is fed into the furnace by the grate. The grate comprises transverse dogs running on a grate plane for advancing the fuel through the furnace, which grate plane is located above an arrangement for the supply of the primary combustion air from below to the fuel, and below the air intakes for the secondary combustion air.
