Abstract:
An apparatus for processing material (29) such as organically coated waste and organic materials including biomass, industrial waste, municipal solid waste and sludge is provided. The apparatus comprises an oven having a rotatable portion comprising a treatment chamber adapted to receive material for treatment. A plurality of gas inlets are provided in at least one wall of the treatment chamber through which hot gasses are introduced to the treatment chamber to heat the material therein so as to cause the organic components thereof to pyrolyse or gassify. At least one retarder means (26) is located in the treatment chamber to retard the movement of waste material therein as the oven rotates.
Abstract:
An installation and a method for the heat treatment of refuse of any type and similar products such as low or poor quality fuels are disclosed. The installation comprises a one piece combustion chamber formed of three coaxial parts, one of which is of truncated conical shape, and another one of which comprises an opening in its vault for collection of the combustion gas in a hood sealingly mounted onto the external wall of the chamber and covering said vault opening, means being provided for imparting to said chamber an oscillating movement around its longitudinal axis in order to propel the refuse and similar products between the entrance and the exit of the chamber.
Abstract:
A pyrolysis surface such as a rotating retort is provided by copper sheet supported by a nickel alloy framework. Pyrolysis is used to destroy calorific waste and/or to produce gas therefrom.
