    摘要: In a solar radiation collector comprising a glass envelope 1 around an absorber plate 2 mounted on a metal tube 3 communicates with a heat exchange condenser 6, the glass envelope is sealed around the metal tube using an intermediate metal collar 4. The collar is sealed at one end around the tube 3 and, at its other end, its thickness tapers to a knife edge and the glass is sealed to the inside of the knife edge.

    摘要: The present application discloses a sunlight-into-electrical and thermal energy conversion apparatus wherein a heat collecting plate fitted with a heating medium tube and solar cells is contained in a cubiform container and wherein the upside opening of the cubiform container is covered with a light-permeable glass plate through a metal sealing collar having the same coefficient of thermal expansion as that of the light-permeable glass plate, thereby permitting a large quantity of electrical energy and thermal energy to be extracted simultaneously from a small space of installation and at less cost. Moreover, the completely airtight construction of the combination of the cubiform container and the light-permeable glass plate ensures that the solar cells contained therein are thoroughly protected.

    摘要: A thermal collector of solar energy includes an elemental semiconductor material to absorb a substantial portion of the energy of solar radiation that is incident upon the material. At longer wavelengths, such material reradiates absorbed energy at a substantially reduced rate, whereby the efficiency of energy collection at high temperatures is improved. In a solar electric power plant collected heat is transferred from such collectors to a motive fluid, which drives a turbine-generator. The high operating temperature of the energy-absorbing material permits efficient conversion of the collected energy to electrical energy, while a required number of solar collectors is correspondingly reduced by the improved collection efficiency.

    摘要: A liquid crystal cell comprises a transparent top support plate having a transparent conductive coating thereon, a bottom support plate smaller than the first support plate and having a reflective conductive coating on one surface thereof and a black coating on its opposite surface is centered with respect to and spaced from the top support plate, a layer of a liquid crystal composition fills the space between the support plates, a metal cover encloses the bottom support plate and liquid crystal layer and is sealed around its periphery to the top support plate by means of a metal frit and solder. The cover is insulated from the top support plate by means of a dielectric insulating layer on the support plate. Spring means are provided which are bonded to the cover and the bottom support plate for holding the bottom support plate in position. A method for assembling the structure is described.

    摘要: A solar energy collector of the kind which heats a fluid employs removable energy transfer tubes having an outer glass envelope and an evacuated space between the envelope and an inner metal tube. A manifold is provided to which is connected a number of inner elongate metal tubes having an open end over which are then arranged the energy transfer tubes. The inner metal tubes and the energy transfer tubes form an annular space which is provided with helical fluid flow channels to increase the thermal energy transfer from the radiant solar energy to the fluid. The energy transfer tubes are removable and are not installed on the operable system until the mechanical mounting and fluid connections are made at the operational location.
