    摘要: An enhancing device for piercing plugs in a steam generator is provided. The enhancing device includes a main body, and a bit, borne by the main body and extending along a longitudinal axis. The bit may be driven into rotation around its longitudinal axis, in order to perform an action for piercing a plug. The device includes a hollow tubular element, extending along the longitudinal axis, while surrounding the bit and coaxially with this bit, the tubular element including an outer surface having a screwing thread, intended to be screwed onto the plug prior to the piercing. The tubular element may be driven into rotation around the longitudinal axis, independently of the rotation of the bit.

    摘要: A plug for sealing the end of a tube including a cylindrical housing member having longitudinal bore that communicates with a threaded portion. An insert post having a threaded body is received within the threaded portion of the bore and supports a frustroconical member that deflects at least a portion of the wall of the housing member that is highly ductile when a rear nut is threaded onto the body of the insert post. The frustroconical member has a correspondingly large angle of taper to deflect the wall of the housing member outwardly as much as possible without causing fracturing of the wall.

    摘要: A tube plug kit for sealing the end of a tube is provided. The tube plug kit includes a tube plug having a housing member and a locking member, an insert member having a threaded end portion received within the threaded portion of the bore and an enlarged portion positioned to be drawn within the smooth portion of the longitudinal bore in response to rotation of the insert member in the longitudinal bore. The tube plug kit also includes an actuating tool and a tapered member between the enlarged portion of the insert member and the longitudinal bore of the housing member. The enlarged portion has a recess therein for receiving the actuating tool.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for expanding the ends of a sleeve that has previously been installed into a defective section of inaccessibly located soft metal heat exchanger tubing. The sleeve ends are expanded using an apparatus of a plastic bladder connected to a series of connectable sections of sufficient length to reach the ends of the installed sleeve. The expansion is performed by locating the plastic bladder inside the sleeve at one end and hydraulically compressing the plastic bladder and forcing it to expand in diameter as a function of Poisson's ratio to thus expand the sleeve end into the tube.

    摘要: Method of restricting transverse displacement of a nuclear heat exchanger tube support plate during a transient event, the support plate having a plurality of holes therethrough for passage of respective ones of a plurality of heat transfer tubes. The method includes radially expanding the tube adjacent the first side of the support plate to define a first expanded region thereat, the tube being expanded to a diameter greater than the diameter of the hole formed through the support plate. The method further includes radially expanding the tube adjacent the second side of the support plate to define a second expanded region thereat, the tube being expanded to a diameter greater than the diameter of the hole formed through the support plate. The first expanded region and the second expanded region coact to restrict transverse displacement of the support plate because the support plate is firmly captured between the first expanded region and the second expanded region.
