    摘要: The disclosure relates to a multi-pass removable plate heat exchanger without a need of arranging interfaces or connections on a mobile pressure plate, and a specific heat transfer plate therefor. The heat transfer plate has a plurality of lateral regions, where a plurality of mutually communicative lateral-pass partitions or mutually isolated pass partitions are formed with specially shaped gaskets. With such kind of heat transfer plates, a multi-pass removable plate heat exchanger without a need of arranging interfaces or nozzles on the mobile pressure plate may be constructed. The disclosure further relates to a specially shaped gasket to allow construction of a multi-pass removable plate heat exchanger without a need of arranging interfaces or nozzles on the mobile pressure plate. The multi-pass removable plate heat exchanger comprises a fixed pressure plate, a mobile pressure plate, and a plate pack where a plurality of the heat transfer plates configured with corresponding gaskets are assembled to form alternating cold and hot fluid flow channels.

    摘要: A device and method for plugging a tube that includes setting a tapered plug in a tube with a compression ring that circumscribes the plug. The ring radially expands when axially compressed and wedges the plug in the tube. An anchoring assembly fits over the tapered end of the plug and is coupled to the plug while being pushed against the compressed ring. When coupled to the plug, the anchoring assembly maintains the ring in a compressed state. The anchoring assembly can be made up of legs that fasten to the tapered end of the plug and have shoulders attached on a free end that are positioned against a lateral side of the compressed ring.

The tubesheet has a plurality of holes formed therethrough, wherein at least one of the holes has been left vacant by a heat transfer tube removed from the hole. Such a hole is defined as a bare hole. One embodiment of the method of the invention comprises disposing a sleeve in the bare hole to protect the tubesheet material from the corrosive attack of the heat exchanger primary coolant and sealingly disposing a sleeve plug in the sleeve in order to seal the sleeve. A leak-tight joint is defined as the sleeve plug is sealingly disposed in the sleeve.

    摘要: A self cleaning plug is positionable within a tube having an internal surface with a defined dimension. The plug is formed of a first rigid member, a compressible member, a bolt, a second rigid member and a cleaning device. The first rigid member has a threaded bore and an external dimension less than the defined dimension of the tube internal surface. The compressible member has a through bore large enough to receive a shank of the bolt. The bolt extends axially through the compressible member and into the threaded bore of the first rigid member. The second rigid member is preferably in the form of a thin disk and is carried on the bolt between the compressible member and a head of the bolt, such that rotation of said bolt into said rigid member will result in axial compression and radial expansion of the compressible member. The cleaning device which is in the form of a wheel or disk and may be an abrasive material or a brush, has an external dimension greater than that of the rigid member and at least as great as the defined dimension so that it will engage the internal surface as the plug is being inserted into the tube. The cleaning device is carried on the plug either at a leading edge of the first rigid member or between the first rigid member and the compressible member.

    摘要: A tool for removing a metal plug from a tube with repeated pulling impulses includes a pneumatic cylinder defining an interior, cylindrical chamber. A distal end surface of the cylinder defines an anvil. A cylindrical slug, or hammer, is sealingly slidable within the chamber in response to a pressure difference above and below the hammer within the chamber. The cylinder is rigidly connected to the plug so as to hang therefrom, the weight of the cylinder providing a static pull force working in conjunction with the pulling impulses. A pulling impulse is provided by first raising the hammer above the anvil by pneumatically creating a first pressure difference wherein the pressure below the hammer is greater than the pressure above the hammer, then creating a second pressure difference wherein the pressure below the hammer is no greater than the pressure above the hammer in order to drive the hammer against the anvil at speed. The tool is also adapted for disengaging an expander member engaged in a tapered plug shell with a mandrel that includes a push-rod having an end extending into the top of the chamber proximate the plug. Repeated displacement impulses are applied to the expander member by applying a different sequence of forces to the hammer so as to cause it to repeatedly strike the push-rod against the expander member. The tool and a method of using the tool are particularly suited to removing a plug from a heat exchanger tube in a nuclear powered steam generator.

A method for loosening a tube plug firmly retained in a heat exchanger tube by melting the surface of the wall of the tube plug along a predetermined path with a welding tool, and a method for closing a defective heat exchanger tube by inserting a tube plug and expanding a cold-formed roughened region of the cylindrical portion from inside and forcing the roughened region into locking contact with the inner surface of the heat exchanger tube, are also provided.
