摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for circumferentially measuring cross-sectional characteristics of a tubular member. The apparatus includes first and second template members that cooperably define an aperture for receiving the tubular member. At least one of the template members is adjustable so that the aperture can be adjusted between open and closed positions. A measurement device can be configured to detect the relative position of the first and second template members, thereby measuring the relative adjustment of the members between the open and closed positions. This measurement is indicative of the cross-sectional size of the tubular member, e.g., for determining the diameter of the tubular member. Alternatively, multiple measurement devices can respond to a contact force between the measurement devices and the tubular member, e.g., to determine a variation in wall thickness of the tubular member.

摘要: A monitoring system monitoring electrical components of an apparatus for electrodynamic wall-thickness and defect testing includes a transmitter generating brief signals. An electrodynamic converter has a transmitter coil connected to the transmitter for receiving the brief signals and feeding the brief signals into a workpiece to be tested in which the brief signals are reflected. The electrodynamic converter has a receiver coil receiving the reflected signals. An amplifier is connected to the receiver coil for receiving the reflected signals and an evaluation unit is connected to the amplifier for receiving the reflected signals. At least one damping element and a delay line are connected to the transmitter for delaying and damping the brief signals. The delay line is coupled through the electrodynamic converter to the evaluation unit for feeding the delayed and damped signals to the transmitter coil.

摘要: A thickness measuring apparatus for sheet material has before the actual measuring gap a pretest sensing element which responds to overthicknesses in the material under test transported to the apparatus and, if necessary, swivels the measuring system out of the plane of transport. This avoids jamming in the transport system and damage to or maladjustment of the measuring system. A triggering mechanism which cooperates with the pretest sensing element can be designed in such a way that the measuring system is swiveled away only in the case of a definite adjustable force. After a disturbance the measuring system is automatically returned to the original position.

摘要: The apparatus comprises a roll, having an elastic surface, mounted for rotation about a fixed axis with the elastic surface arranged to engage one surface of a record carrier. A piezoelectric transducer is mounted perpendicular to the axis of the roll and rigidly with respect to the roll, and a sensor is mounted quasi-rigidly, with respect to the transducer, between the roll and the transducer, the sensor being fixedly joined to the transducer. In the quiescent condition, without a record carrier being passed between the sensor and the roll, the distance from the roll surface to the sensor is smaller than the smallest paper thickness to be measured. The transducer is mounted in a holder having a spring member fixedly joining the sensor to the transducer. The sensor may include a sensing roll or may be designed as a sensing runner with a sharp edge, and an elastic damping plate connects the transducer to the sensor.
