Abstract:
A device for measuring a total cross-sectional phase fraction of a multiphase flow includes a scintillation crystal and a detector. The scintillation crystal is coupled to the detector; and the scintillation crystal includes lutetium-176.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the quantitative in-line X-ray fluorescence analysis of rries by means of a radioactive preparation, e.g. Cd-109, and an X-ray fluorescence detector. The apparatus comprises a substantially vertical measuring tube with inlet and outlet for the slurries to be investigated, and a measuring station. Above the measuring station which contains the radioactive preparations and the fluorescence detector there is provided a filling level control which controls the state of opening of the outlet.
Abstract:
A γ-ray scanner includes a Solid-State Single-Photon Detector (“SSSPD”) and a γ-ray source, which may be a radioisotope such as Americium oxide (Am-241) that may not require certification since it has a low intensity that is safe even over extended periods of exposure to a human body. The γ-ray scanner may be used for monitoring a fixed object such as a pipe and includes an imaging assembly having a stationary annular gantry surrounding the pipe and an armature that fixedly supports the γ-source and the detector in mutual opposed alignment, so that they are constrained to move together. The armature rides around an inside periphery of the gantry, while the armature or the gantry moves laterally in a direction parallel to a rotation axis of the armature so as to move the γ-ray beam around and along the pipe.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for X-ray spectrum analysis of flowing material, and particularly where the material has two phases such as a suspension. A flow of gas or floats are used to separate the flowing material from an X-ray window in a casing containing an X-ray source and detector, which casing is located directly in the stream of flowing material. The gas flow provides a protective curtain across the window. An electrode structure is moveably mounted adjacent to the window and enables the solid state phase to be deposited for separate analysis of the solid and liquid phases of the flowing material.
Abstract:
A radiation measurement instrument for measuring a quantity or mass of material where the instrument has at least a radiation source and radiation detector suitably positioned in the material.
Abstract:
Some embodiments include a radiographic inspection system, comprising: a drive mechanism configured to move along a structure; a detector attached to the drive mechanism; a radiation source attached to the drive mechanism and positionable relative to the detector such that a width of the structure casts a radiation shadow on an active area of the detector; and control logic coupled to the detector and configured to: receive an image from the detector; generate side wall loss information based on the image; and generate bottom wall loss information based on the image.
