The radiofrequency emissions detector detects radiofrequency emissions reflected from the structure and the radiofrequency emissions processor used to further process the radiofrequency emissions by creating a two-dimensional image of the detected radiofrequency emissions from which the background image is subtracted using median filtering.

A data processing apparatus processes counts detected at each of pixels of a photo counting detector in each of a plurality of energy ranges of X-rays. The X-rays are radiated from an X-ray tube, and transmitted through an object. The apparatus calculates an image of the object based on the counts, and sets a region of interest on the image. The apparatus further removes, from the pixel, pixel information showing a background present in the region of interest, and calculates, pixel by pixel, inherent information inherent to the substance, based on the counts detected at each of the respective pixels in each of the energy ranges of the X-rays in the region of interest. The inherent information indicates a transmission characteristic inherent to the X-rays.

There is provided an X-ray inspection device configured to include: an X-ray source that generates X-rays; a transport unit that performs transporting a sample; a detecting unit that has a time delay integration type detector which detects X-rays generated by the X-ray source and transmitted through the sample transported by the transport unit; and a defect determining unit that processes a signal obtained by detecting the X-rays transmitted through the sample by the time delay integration type detector of the detecting unit and determines a defect in the sample. The transport unit performs transporting the sample while causing the sample to rotate in synchronization with the transporting when the sample passes in front of the time delay integration type detector of the detecting unit.

This invention utilizes two sensing technologies in combination with or in isolation of an automated inspection vehicle to conduct inspections of internal rail flaws in steel railroad track. A vehicle equipped with X-radiation sensing is used as a secondary method to assess the deviations in magnetic fields that are sensed by a primary sensor consisting of a single or multiple magnetometers. The magnetometers sense changes in magnetic field that are correlated to the flaws inside the steel rail. The combination of technologies improves the probability to detect railroad flaws and offers the ability to accurately track and monitor flaws.

A device and method for the radioscopic examination of a continuous strip-shaped material of rubber which runs continuously in particular. During the movement, the strip-shaped material is x-rayed by a radioscopic measurer and the entire cross-sectional surface is detected so that foreign bodies or defects present in the material are detected according to their position and orientation. An elimination device removes the previously identified foreign body during the feed movement of the material in that a tool, configured as a punching tool, of the elimination device is moved synchronously with the material.
