Abstract:
A programmable interface-based validation and debug system includes, for example, a test connector that is arranged to communicatively couple a design under test to the test fixture. A programmable logic interface is communicatively coupled to the test connector and is arranged to receive a downloadable test bench, where the downloadable test bench is arranged to apply test vectors from a first set of test vectors to a first test control bus. A multiplexer is arranged to selectively couple one of the first test control bus and a second test control bus to a shared test bus that is coupled to the test connector, where the second test control bus is arranged to apply test vectors from a second set of test vectors provided by, for example, a debugger that is operated by a human.
Abstract:
An oscilloscope apparatus, comprising a display for displaying a plurality of objects, a toolbar displayed on the display, and a user interface for selecting an object. The display displays one or more functions on the toolbar corresponding to the selected object.
Abstract:
A real time digital storage oscilloscope acquires a long data record in an acquisition memory and processes the data of the long data record to search for predetermined events. Upon detection of such a predetermined event, circuitry generates an event detect signal, and data comprising an acquisition frame surrounding the event is applied to a waveform processing and display system. The long data record can be replayed in order to perform additional searches throughout the data record using different search criteria, thereby permitting multiple waveforms to be displayed simultaneously, each being captured as a result of a different user-defined event. A screen display may be programmed to display a different kind of event such as Runt signal, Overshoot, or Pulsewidth Violation in each waveform, or to display multiple occurrences of the same kind of event such as Runt signal in each waveform.
Abstract:
A primary test and measurement device merges a primary (i.e., local) a non-primary (i.e., remote) waveform data to produce a display signal that, when presented on a display device, shows both waveforms. The primary measuring device may utilize respective transparent windows for each waveform such that the transparent windows may be overlaid during presentation to display waveform data from the non-primary measuring devices upon the primary measuring device. In this manner, a plurality of test and measurement devices are used to provide a single combined image for presentation.
Abstract:
A method of displaying a number of measurement curves is described. The measurement curves are displayed in at least two windows. Each one of the windows comprises two axes. One or more measurement curves are displayed in each one of the windows. The method comprises the steps of changing the scale of one of the curves in the direction of at least one of the two axes by a user and synchronizing at least one of the other curves of one or more other windows with respect to one of the two axes depending on said change carried out by the user.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for obtaining a voltage-isolated measurement channel in a measurement instrument is provided. An input signal is multiplied with a clock signal to obtain a modulated input signal that is coupled to an input winding of a balanced transformer. The modulated input signal is electromagnetically coupled from the input winding to an output winding. At the same time, the input winding and the output winding are voltage-isolated, meaning that the portion of the measurement channel coupled to the input winding is "floated" with the input signal whereas the remaining portion of the measurement channel is referenced to instrument ground. A sampling circuit coupled to the output winding samples the modulated input signal in the manner of a synchronous detector to extract the original input signal voltage which is provided to an analog to digital converter which generates the digital measurement values. Each measurement channel is voltage-isolated from the instrument and from all other measurement channels in the instrument.
Abstract:
A video synthesizer is adapted for connection to the input circuitry of an oscilloscope, and includes sampling and multiplexing circuitry for presentation of a multiplicity of input signals to a single channel of the oscilloscope. The signals are sampled sequentially, and the samples of respective ones of the signals are multiplexed with corresponding reference voltage levels of a voltage divider so as to vertically displace the signals on the face of the oscilloscope. For periodic input signals, the sequential sampling is repeated at a rate which is not harmonically related to the periodicity of the input signals to fully regenerate the signal waveforms on the oscilloscope. A memory is provided for storing intervals of the input signals in the case of nonperiodic signals, the stored signals then being outputted to the sampling and multiplexing circuitry. By presetting an address counter of the memory, and by selecting a data sampling rate of the memory, the displayed waveforms can be displaced along the x axis of the oscilloscope and expanded to facilitate visual inspection. To provide a maximum rate of sampling, the multiplexing is accomplished with an interlacing of the reference voltages to minimize voltage jumps and reduce the bandwidth of the sample sequence.
Abstract:
An oscillographic device receives plural vertical inputs which are multiplexed to provide plural traces by means of the same electron beam. Switching times of the multiplexer are varied during the display to avoid gaps in waveform presentation when the period of the device's horizontal sweep is a near multiple of the switching period of the multiplexer.
Abstract:
An oscilloscope is provided with a dual time base system in which the nonlinear startup segment of the main sweep is eliminated before delay time comparison, thereby facilitating accurate differential measurements down to and including the triggering event (zero time). System delays are built in to ensure that the displayed sweep trace also begins at the left edge of the viewing screen, and, moreover, the triggering event may be viewed on both the main and delayed sweeps. The built-in system delays may be programmable to facilitate delay matching of vertical channels or time matching of independent sweep operation.
