摘要: A near-eye display has an image projector coupled to a lightguide for receiving and propagating image light provided by the image projector, the image light carrying an image to be displayed to a viewer. Field of view of the near-eye display may be expanded by providing a beam redirector downstream of the lightguide for controllably redirecting the image light in coordination with displaying different field of view portions by the image projector. To compensate the redirection of external light by the beam redirector, a second beam redirector may be provided upstream of the first redirector and the lightguide.

摘要: An image light guide for conveying image bearing light comprising a substrate operable to propagate image-bearing light beams along a length thereof. An in-coupling diffractive optic is formed along the substrate and is operable to diffract a portion of image-bearing light beams from an image source into the substrate in an angularly encoded form. An out- coupling diffractive optic is formed along the substrate at least partially in a plane having an x-axis and a y-axis, and is operable to diffract a portion of the image-bearing light beams from the substrate in an angularly decoded form. The out-coupling diffractive optic comprises a first plurality of periodic structures and a second plurality of periodic structures operable to diffract a portion of the image-bearing light beams into diffractive orders. The first and second pluralities of periodic structures comprise a plurality of vertices, wherein each adjacent vertex along the x-axis is offset in the y-axis direction.

摘要: A pupil-replicating lightguide includes a slab of transparent material for guiding image light in the slab, and an out-coupling structure supported by the slab for out-coupling portions of the image light from the slab. The portions are laterally offset from one another along a path of the image light in the slab. The out-coupling grating structure has a switchable distribution of out-coupling efficiency for redirecting the portions of out-coupled light to a desired location such as a current location of an eye of the viewer determined by an eye tracking system. The out-coupling grating structure may include a plurality of diffraction gratings having different local slant angles of grating fringes.

摘要: The subject disclosure is directed towards a high resolution, high frame rate, robust stereo depth system. The system provides depth data in varying conditions based upon stereo matching of images, including actively illuminated IR images in some implementations. A clean IR or RGB image may be captured and used with any other captured images in some implementations. Clean IR images may be obtained by using a notch filter to filter out the active illumination pattern. IR stereo cameras, a projector, broad spectrum IR LEDs and one or more other cameras may be incorporated into a single device, which may also include image processing components to internally compute depth data in the device for subsequent output.

摘要: An input-coupler of an optical waveguide couples light corresponding to the image and having a corresponding FOV into the optical waveguide, and the input-coupler splits the FOV of the image coupled into the optical waveguide into first and second portions by diffracting a portion of the light corresponding to the image in a first direction toward a first intermediate-component, and diffracting a portion of the light corresponding to the image in a second direction toward a second intermediate-component. An output-coupler of the waveguide combines the light corresponding to the first and second portions of the FOV, and couples the light corresponding to the combined first and second portions of the FOV out of the optical waveguide so that the light corresponding to the image and the combined first and second portions of the FOV is output from the optical waveguide. The intermediate-components and the output-coupler also provide for pupil expansion.

摘要: The subject disclosure is directed towards loading parallel memories (e.g., in one or more FPGAs) with multidimensional data in an interleaved manner such that a multidimensional patch/window may be filled with corresponding data in a single parallel read of the memories. Depending on the position of the patch, the data may be rotated horizontally and/or vertically, for example, so that the data in each patch is consistently arranged in the patch regardless of from which memory each piece of data was read. Also described is leveraging dual ported memory for multiple line reads and/or loading one part of a buffer while reading from another.
