摘要: In some embodiments, an optical fiber transmission link, includes a length of dispersion compensating fiber (DCF), the dispersion compensating fiber coupled to a length of single-mode fiber (SMF) having a zero dispersion wavelength of 1300 nm to 1324 nm; wherein the optical fiber transmission link comprising the dispersion compensating fiber coupled to the single-mode fiber and operating at wavelengths between 1265 nm and 1375 nm increases maximum link lengths of the optical fiber transmission link by more than 60% as compared to the link length of the optical fiber transmission link with the single-mode fiber only; and wherein the maximum link length is calculated from the maximum allowed positive and negative accumulated dispersion at wavelengths between 1265 nm and 1375 nm.

摘要: The present invention relates to an ultra-low loss optical fiber for long haul communications (100) comprising a core region (102) defined by a core relative refractive index and a cladding region surrounding the core region, defined by a cladding relative refractive index. In particular, the core region comprises a relative refractive index in a range of −0.06% to +0.06% and the cladding region is down-doped for entire radial cladding thickness. Moreover, the cladding region further comprises an inner cladding region (104) defined by an inner cladding relative refractive index and an outer cladding region (106) defined by an outer cladding relative refractive index. The inner cladding relative refractive index is less than the outer cladding relative refractive index.

摘要: Provided is an optical coupler configured to cause an NA of light, which exits a taper fiber, to be smaller as compared with a conventional optical coupler. A taper fiber has a high refractive index part which is provided inside a core of the taper fiber and which has a refractive index smaller than a refractive index ncore of the core. An exit end surface of each GI fiber is bonded to an entrance end surface of the taper fiber so that at least a part of the exit end surface of the each GI fiber overlaps with a section of the high refractive index part. A relative refractive index difference of the taper fiber is smaller than 0.076%.

The optical fiber production system also includes a gas distribution assembly fluidly coupled to the furnace outlet and structurally configured to induce gas flow from the gas distribution assembly into the process tube such that gas flows within the process tube in an upflow direction.

An optical waveguide includes a core that extends along a propagation axis and has a refractive index profile that varies angularly about the propagation axis. The optical waveguide also includes a cladding disposed about the core and extending along the propagation axis. The refractive index profile of the core varies angularly along a length of the propagation axis.
