摘要: A method, computer program product, and system that discards unneeded elements when generating a fault tree of an object to be analyzed. Configuration information identifies a plurality of functional blocks comprised by the object and a plurality of signal lines that connect the functional blocks in logical relationships. Exclusion target information identifies a signal line that may be excluded from the plurality of signal lines without loss of information or a functional block that may be excluded from the plurality of functional blocks without loss of information. Exclusion of a block or signal line may be determined by detecting a redundant functional block or by detecting a circular signal path traversed by two or more signal lines. The generated fault tree omits the excluded block or signal line and identifies the existence of a redundant block or of a circular signal path.

摘要: A method is provided for updating a fault tree used in diagnosis of a condition of a machine. The fault tree is a sequence of test modules. Each of the test modules is assigned a confidence score indicating the likelihood that the test module will lead to a diagnosis. The method comprising the steps of obtaining service data from a plurality of service occasions for like machines, revising the confidence score for at least one test module in the fault tree based on the service data; and revising the sequence of the test modules in the fault tree based on the revised confidence score(s). The sequence is revised such that the most likely modules to result in a diagnosis are listed first, and the least likely ones are listed last. The re-ordering is based on feedback from actual service instances in the field, and thus is more likely to reflect real-world conditions. The result is that service technicians using the revised fault trees work more efficiently, at least on a statistical basis.

摘要: A document production apparatus has a plurality of replaceable units and a diagnostic system for determining the condition of the replaceable units. A computer control system monitors and controls document production functions, and includes a display for providing instructions for error diagnostic sequences. A diagnostic microprocessor for processing diagnostic signals representative of document production device conditions, has data entries, outputs, and storage for diagnostic routines. Error isolation diagnostic procedures identify suspect replaceable units. The procedures include displaying (1) a list of symptoms from which a user can select the symptom which best describes a condition of the document production apparatus, (2) a stored list of suspect replaceable units which are associated with a selected symptom, and (3) the status of each suspect replaceable unit displayed. The list of suspect replaceable units are displayed in an order of the probability of defect.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method for providing a user interface to graphically indicate a cause for fault-related events includes providing a user interface to illustrate a plurality of fault-related events for a plurality of recipes performed on a plurality of manufacturing process hardware tools, presenting in the user interface the plurality of recipes in a first axis and the plurality of manufacturing process hardware tools in a second axis, and graphically indicating in the user interface whether the plurality of fault-related events were caused by one of the plurality of manufacturing process hardware tools or one of the plurality of recipes performed on the one manufacturing process hardware tools.

摘要: A System and a method are provided for the monitoring of a control process in a process plant such as a power generation plant. The process plant contains a plurality of plant items to be controlled, such as valves, pumps, turbines and so forth. At least some of these have sensors attached to them which output a digital (binary) or analog signal indicative of the status of that plant item. Many plant items also have control actuators for shutting and opening the valve, for example. The plant item sensor outputs are connected to a network and a control algorithm representing the control logic of the process plant processes the sensor outputs. The output of one of a plurality of control functions forming the control algorithm is selected to begin a fault tracing procedure. The control logic forming the control algorithm is visually displayed on a computer monitor. The selected control function output is traced back to its source via the control algorithm shown on the computer monitor to identify the root cause of a fault.

摘要: A computer-implemented method and device for resolving closed loops in automatic fault tree analysis of a multi-component system is provided. Also provided is a method for resolving closed loops in automatic fault tree analysis of a multi-component system, the closed loops corresponding, for example, to closed-loop control circuitry of a multi-component device. The closed loops are first identified in a top-down approach within failure propagation paths. Next, the loops are resolved by setting each loop interconnection to Boolean TRUE, adjusting the fault tree in a specific way and finally setting each loop interconnection to Boolean FALSE. Embodiments of the invention are relevant for analyzing safety-critical systems. However, the present concepts are not limited to these applications and may be applied to general use cases where fault tree analysis is applicable. The proposed solution advantageously provides a method that features linear complexity.
