The system includes a module that permits communication of information between computers that communicate with process control equipment. The system also includes a module that permits a primary controlling machine to communicate with computers that communicate with process control equipment, and that permits a secondary controlling machine to take the place of the primary controlling machine when the primary controlling machine is unavailable. The system further includes a module that aggregates requests for information directed to one computer that communicates with a piece of process control equipment, communicates with the computer and obtains the information, and delivers the information to each of the requesters. The standard communication protocol for process control can be OPC, and the communicated information can be one or more process control parameters.

    摘要: Application interface software provides communication between a network of computer nodes and user applications of a host processor. Interpreters or gateways are used between the host processor and the network of computer nodes. The application interface software employs a redundancy routine to ensure host access of computer node data through the gateways. The redundancy routine changes access of computer node data from one gateway to a second gateway during times of dysfunctioning of the one gateway. The redundancy routine changes access in a manner which is transparent to the host processor. A database is employed to hold computer node data for direct access by the host processor. The redundancy routine ensures the latest computer node data values to be reflected in the database.

    摘要: A multisection flexible multidigit arm contains hands at each end, each of which hands contains a set of fingers, suitably three, which are similarly formed flexible multidigit arms constructed to a smaller scale. Each hand contains connectors for coupling the hand to a mating connector mounted on an associated structure to provide appropriate power and control signals to the arm. One hand may grip the connector and the other hand is free to move to various positions and perform various tasks. In an additional aspect the arm may move to different locations by somersaulting between spaced connectors in the system. In an assembly system the robotic arms are used to construct frames or other assemblies.A completely self contained arm includes a self contained source of power. Radio communication means are provided to allow electronic interaction with the arm from a remote location. In an additional aspect the self contained circuitry includes processor means programmed to control the arm to perform a certain task, relieving the operator at the remote location from specifying the details.Control signals to the sections of the arm in an additional aspect to the disclosed invention are provided by an electrical system that uses only a few wires by multiplexing the signals and the actuators, effectively "time sharing" the electrical leads between the large number of actuators.

    摘要: A computerized welding control system which is capable of controlling a large number of welding heads from a single processor, the processor being the timing instrumentality for the various portions of the welding cycle. The system also includes standard welding circuitry to control the percent heat and the control of the first electrical cycle of the welding cycle. The system includes a data entry terminal for a set of welders within the group controlled by a single processor, the terminal being capable of addressing the computer to determine the time stored therein for various functions within the welding cycle for a particular machine within the group controlled by the terminal unit. The terminal unit also includes capability of changing the times associated with each portion of the welding cycle. The system also includes an automation portion which is capable of sensing various functions within an automated line and feeding data relative to the machines on the automated line to the computer and the computer will utilize this data to generate control functions for both the automation and welding portions of the system.
