摘要: Methods, systems, apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for reclaiming storage space in a storage environment. In one aspect, the method includes actions of aggregating data that is indicative of access to one or more data objects, determining a future storage cost associated with each of a plurality of data objects, determining an access window for each of the plurality of data objects, identifying a data object based on (i) the future storage cost that satisfies a predetermined threshold and (ii) a data object access window, providing a notification to a user device that requests feedback from a user indicating whether the data object can be deleted, and in response to receiving data that indicates that the data object can be deleted, generating an instruction to cause deletion of the data object upon the expiration of the access window.

摘要: In an approach to maintain data integrity in a computer data storage system, a clone management table is generated for a clone file tree that includes a relationship between at least one parent file and a clone file. The parent file is restored by: (i) determining that the parent-child relationship exists between the parent file and the clone file based on an entry in the clone management table, (ii) restoring data blocks in the parent file to the file system based on an analysis of an entry in the clone management table for the parent file and an identification of data blocks included in the clone file, and (iii) generating a new instance of the parent file based on the data blocks included in the file system and the entry in the clone management table for the clone file tree.

摘要: Methods and systems for migrating a virtual machine instance between devices include scoring a received migration request against one or more rules in a rule database relating to one or more respective validation sets. Each validation set includes one or more validation subtasks. Each score is compared to a respective threshold to determine if a level of risk according to the respective rule merits performing validation. The migration request is validated by one or more validation sets that correspond to the scores that exceed the respective threshold.

摘要: This invention is a system and a method for operating a storage server in a data network using a new architecture. The system of operating a storage server includes a secondary storage that archives or stores a data object in transformed form such that the clients of the storage server can no longer access the data directly. The method of accessing the data object that is archived or transformed in a different form to the secondary storage includes recalling only those data blocks that are required for read or write operation.

摘要: Nested namespaces for selective content sharing are provided. In a content management system, content is stored for a plurality of users. The content includes a plurality of content items and a plurality of folders arranged in a plurality of hierarchies. A plurality of root namespaces is established. Each root namespace is rooted to a root folder of an account. A first namespace rooted to a first folder selected from the plurality of folders is established. First permissions are maintained for the first namespace, granting access to a first set of users. A request to share a second folder is received. The second folder is a child of the first folder in a particular hierarchy. A second namespace rooted to the second folder is established. Second permissions are maintained for the second namespace, granting access to a second set of users.

摘要: A method, apparatus, and system for automated information lifecycle management using low access patterns in a database management system are provided. A user or the database can store policy data that defines an archiving action when meeting an activity-level condition on one or more database objects. The archiving actions may include compression, data movement, and other actions to place the database object in an appropriate storage tier for a lifecycle phase of the database object. The activity-level condition may specify the database object meeting a low access pattern, optionally for a minimum time period. Various criteria including access statistics for the database object and cost characteristics of current and target compression levels or storage tiers may be considered to determine the meeting of the activity-level condition. The policies may be evaluated on an adjustable periodic basis and may utilize a task scheduler for minimal performance impact.

摘要: Methods, systems and computer readable media for efficient state change support for hierarchical data models in a virtualized system are described. In some implementations, the method can include determining a system status including a system-level bit masked word having a plurality of bits, each bit corresponding to a status of a different hierarchical level of the system, and receiving a change notification. The method can also include querying an entity at a lower hierarchy level if a cascaded state change is identified for that entity. The method can further include continuing to query one or more entities in successively lower hierarchy levels so long as a cascaded state change is identified for a corresponding entity in a lower hierarchy level. The method can also include determining the current status for one or more entities having a changed status. Identifying a cascaded state change can include performing a logical exclusive OR operation on a previous status bit masked word and a current status bit masked word of an entity.

摘要: A storage system according to certain embodiments includes a client-side signature repository that includes information representative of a set of data blocks stored in primary storage. During storage operations of a client, the system can generate signatures corresponding to data blocks that are being stored in primary storage. The system can store the generated signatures in the client-side signature repository along with information regarding the location of the corresponding data block within primary storage. As additional instances of the data block are stored in primary storage, the system can store the location of the additional instances in the client-side signature repository.

摘要: A computer-implemented method, system, and computer-readable media are disclosed herein. In embodiments, the computer-implemented method may entail receiving, by a data service, live data associated with an entity. The entity may be, for example, a customer of the data service. The method may then route the live data to a dual-queue system. The live data may then be loaded into a live data queue for processing of the live data. In addition, the live data may be stored as a persistent backup of the live data in a stale data queue. A remote data store may periodically establish a connection with the dual-queue system, after which, at least a portion of the stale data may be transmitted to the remote data store. Additional embodiments are described and/or claimed.

摘要: A request is received to determine a consistent point of data stored in a file system of a storage system having storage units. In response to the request, a prime dependency list is retrieved from a first prime segment stored in a first storage unit, the prime dependency list including information identifying at least a second prime segment stored in a second storage unit. The first and second prime segments are identified by a first prime segment identifier (ID) and a second prime segment ID, respectively, which collectively identify a prime representing a first consistent view of the file system. The consistent point of data is determined based the prime segments listed in the prime dependency list, where the consistent point of data represents a file system state at a point in time for restoration of the file system back to a prior known state.
