Abstract: In some implementations, a computer-implemented method is capable of automatically segmenting and detecting a tattoo within an image. An image may be initially obtained. A block coverage pattern that identifies multiple blocks within the obtained image may be determined. A set of processing operations may then be performed for each block. The processing operations may include calculating a plurality of statistical features. A confidence score reflecting a likelihood that at least a portion of the block includes a predetermined graphical attribute associated with tattoos may be calculated. A subset of the multiple blocks of the image that have a respective confidence score greater than a predetermined threshold value may be identified. A portion of the image that includes one or more blocks from among the subset of the multiple blocks may then be determined to correspond to a tattoo.

Abstract: The disclosure provides systems and methods of use pertaining to a visual mapping and transportation management system for determining a location of a user and directing a vehicle to the user's location. Embodiments include a navigation application installed upon a user's mobile computing device and configured to transmit a user image from the device to an image-matching server storing a map composed of keyframes, each having a stored image, a known geometric pose, and numerous extracted interest features. The server also includes a processor configured to extract interest features from the user image, compare the interest features between the user image and the stored images, identify common interest features between the two, and based on the common interest features and known geometric poses of the stored images, determine a global geometric pose of the user image before directing the vehicle to the user's location. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method includes displaying a bitmap of unique groups of colored tiles on the display screen and reading a color value of a first pixel in a first tile in the bitmap. Color values of tiles within the first tile's group are determined. The position of the first pixel within the first tile is determined. The position of the first tile's group within the bitmap and the position of the first tile within the bitmap are also determined. The position of the first pixel in the bitmap and the position of the bitmap on the display screen are calculated. A performance metric is calculated based at least in part on the position of the bitmap on the display screen.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a rework of a composite structure. Boundary geometries are identified for the layer boundaries in an image of a rework area. The image includes layer boundaries for exposed layers in the rework area. Layer orientations are identified for the exposed layers. A description of a patch for installation in the rework area is generated using the boundary geometries and layer orientations. The patch has plies having ply boundaries with the boundary geometries corresponding to the layer boundaries and ply orientations corresponding to the layer orientations. An operation of a ply cutting system is controlled using the group of files describing the patch, enabling fabricating the patch for the rework area using the group of files describing the patch.

Abstract: There is provided a system including a memory and a processor configured to receive a first image depicting a first object and a second image depicting a second object, divide the first image into a first plurality of patches and the second image into a second plurality of patches, extract plurality of feature vectors from each of the first plurality of patches and a second plurality of feature vectors from the second plurality of patches, determine dissimilarities based on a plurality of patch metrics, each patch dissimilarity measure being a dissimilarity between corresponding patches of the first plurality of patches and the second plurality of patches, compute an image dissimilarity between the first image and the second image based on an aggregate of the plurality of patch dissimilarity measures, evaluate the image dissimilarity to determine a probability of whether the first object and the second object are the same.

Abstract: A method for detecting a position of a sheet of light is described. A second derivative filter is applied to an intensity profile of a line of pixels. An ingress pixel position associated with an ingress zero-crossing second derivative value is determined. The ingress pixel position is between a first pixel position with a first minimum intensity value of the intensity profile and a second pixel position with a first maximum intensity value of the intensity profile. An egress pixel position associated with an egress zero-crossing second derivative value is determined. The egress pixel position is between a third pixel position with a second maximum intensity value of the intensity profile and a fourth pixel position with a second minimum intensity value of the intensity profile. A midpoint pixel position between the ingress pixel position and the egress pixel position is output as the position of the sheet of light.

Abstract: Radiographic imaging, or X-ray imaging, may be used to identify information regarding the contents of a container or other sealed object without having to open the container or the sealed object. One or more visual analyses of radiographic images may identify items within a container, or a condition of such items, as well as the portions or amounts of the contents of the container that correspond to air or dunnage. Additionally, a radiographic image may be projected onto an external surface of a container, or rendered within an augmented reality device or wearable computer device, thereby providing information regarding the contents of the container to a worker or other personnel within a vicinity of the container.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for optimizing one or more object detection parameters used by an autonomous vehicle to detect objects in images. The autonomous vehicle may capture the images using one or more sensors. The autonomous vehicle may then determine object labels and their corresponding object label parameters for the detected objects. The captured images and the object label parameters may be communicated to an object identification server. The object identification server may request that one or more reviewers identify objects in the captured images. The object identification server may then compare the identification of objects by reviewers with the identification of objects by the autonomous vehicle. Depending on the results of the comparison, the object identification server may recommend or perform the optimization of one or more of the object detection parameters.
