摘要: There is provided a method and system for producing an intelligent document comprising a program which, when a precondition has been met, can be executed by a program execution environment, the intelligent document containing contents that can be displayed by a display program. An exemplary method comprises incorporating a program module into the intelligent document, the program module being configured to create displayable information indicating a result of a checking step in order to check whether the precondition has been met within the intelligent document. The exemplary method also comprises inserting displayable information indicating a negative result of the checking step into the intelligent document. The exemplary method additionally comprises transforming, with the program module, the information indicating the negative result of the checking step into displayable information indicating a positive result of the checking step.

摘要: A method is provided for printing and regenerating mailpiece content material in a mailpiece creation system having a controller for modulating the flow of data a printing device. The method comprising the steps of producing an electronic version of the mailpiece content material and generating print stream data indicative of the mailpiece content material. The print stream is then segmented into data sets/packets indicative of a self-contained pages of mailpiece content material. The data packets each include page-based data and an object-data dictionary associated with the page-based data. The data packets are then stored as electronic files in an electronic buffer and, from the electronic buffer, transmitted during a first data transmission to the integrated printer. After the pages are printed, the electronic files of self-contained pages are moved from the electronic buffer to a storage device. Should any pages be identified as having been unsuccessfully printed, the system controller issues a command signal to regenerate the unsuccessfully processed pages in a second data transmission. This final step can be performed automatically or manually.

摘要: In a method and arrangement for reducing printer errors while printing on a print medium in a mail processing device a print data controller for pixel data editing while printing with a printhead contains logic for error reduction having a resettable encoder clock counter. Encoder pulses corresponding to the relative motion between the printer and the print medium are generated. Using these pulses, incremental and decremental counting occurs for evaluating a condition with diminished time spacing of neighboring encoder pulses. A direct memory access (DMA) for a data string of binary pixel data ensues for implementing a print cycle for the data string, and a further direct memory access ensues during the print cycle for a next data string. Following the implementation of the direct memory access for the next data string and dependent on the time spacing of the encoder pulses of a number of successive encoder pulses, the print cycle is completely executed as long as the average value of the encoder period does not downwardly transgress the set duration of a print cycle. In the case of a diminished time spacing of the encoder pulses of the number of encoder pulses, the execution of the print cycle for the printout of binary pixel data of a previous data string is prematurely aborted.

摘要: A transaction evidencing system includes a personal computer (PC) comprising a processor, memory and hard drive, with a plurality of non-metering application programs that selectively run on the PC. An unsecured printer is operatively coupled to the PC for printing in accordance with the non-metering application programs. A portable vault card that is removably coupled to the PC is programmed to generate tokens generation and perform transaction accounting. An application interface module in the PC, which interfaces with the non-metering application programs, issues a request for digital tokens in response to requests for indicia from a non-metering application program. A secure communications module in the PC, which securely communicates with the vault card when the vault card is coupled to the PC, sends the request for digital token to the vault card and receives a digital token generated by the vault card. An indicia bitmap generation module generates an indicia bitmap in the PC from the digital token and stores it in memory. The indicia bitmap is accessed by the non-metering application program when a print indicia operation is selected. A transaction capture module in the PC stores on the hard drive a transaction record corresponding to each issued digital token and associated postal data. The application interface module, the secure communications module, the indicia bitmap generation module and the transaction capture module are part of a dynamic link library module in the PC.

摘要: Methods and systems for preparing mailpieces involve the creation of mailing lists which includes correct and incorrect recipient address information. The list is transmitted to a data center. Received from the data center is a mailing list including addressed hygiened recipient address information and a digital token for each mailpiece with encrypted data. The encrypted data is based on the corrected address information for mailpieces with correct address information on the transmitted mailing list and on hygiened recipient address information the mailpieces with incorrect recipient address information on the transmitted mailing list. The digital tokens for each mailpiece may also be based on the rating parameter information. Selection is provided for utilizing a given one of the incorrect recipient address information and the correct recipient address information is applied to an encrypter generating the digital tokens. The encrypting means for generating digital tokens may be located remote from the mailer facility or on a mailer facility or other local area network. Various arrangements are employed in generating and printing digital tokens recipient address information and corrected recipient address information.

摘要: A method for sequencing the exiting of a cut tape segment from a tape roll feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus of a mailing machine having a tape roll drive and cut tape segment ejection device and in which a cut tape segment from the tape roll is ejected in an opposite direction from the feeding direction of the feeding of tape of the tape roll drive as it feeds the tape for printing includes the steps of feeding the tape in the feeding direction for a first predetermined time period for extending a predetermined length of tape, further feeding the tape in the feeding direction to create a trail edge margin to assure that the tape is not cut shorter than a minimum length, printing on the tape; then feeding the tape in the opposite direction until one of a first and second conditions occurs, the first condition being the sensing of a leading edge of the tape by a sensor and the second condition being feeding the tape in the opposite direction beyond a second predetermined time period, then at times when the first condition occurs cutting the tape with a cutting apparatus to create the cut tape segment and subsequently ejecting the tape segment from the roll tape feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus, and at times when the second condition occurs feeding the tape in the tape feed direction to alleviate a tape jam condition.

摘要: A postage meter control system includes a microcomputer having a programmable microprocessor. The microcomputer is in communication with a decoder integrated circuit (Decoder IC). The Decoder IC has a first write control flip-flop and a second write control flip-flop, as in the preferred embodiment there are redundant non-volatile memories. Each control flip-flop has an output to a respective AND gate. The Decoder IC includes a dual timer which has an output to the control flip-flops. As a result, when the microcomputer enters write routine, the timer releases the control flip-flops to allow the system to be write enabled. If the write routine encounters a error, resulting in the timer timing out, the timer resets the control flip-flop and communicates with the microcomputer to try a retry. A more detailed description, and other features and advantages will become apparent in conjunction with the detailed description of the preferred embodiment.
