摘要: A processor comprises instructions to adjust a bias of an input signal in order to decrease a duty cycle of a pulse modulated optical signal. The bias can be increased, decreased, or maintained in response to one or more measured values of the signal. In many embodiments, a gain of the signal is adjusted with the bias in order to inhibit distortion. The bias can be adjusted slowly in order to inhibit audible noise, and the gain can be adjusted faster than the bias in order to inhibit clipping of the signal. In many embodiments, one or more of the bias or the gain is adjusted in response to a value of the signal traversing a threshold amount. The value may comprise a trough of the signal traversing the threshold.

摘要: An optical modulation device including: bias power supplies that output a signal having a bias voltage corresponding to the null point of an optical modulation unit to the optical modulation unit; and synchronous detection circuits that determine whether an intensity of a QAM signal at a drift non-occurrence time where no drift occurs in the bias voltage becomes larger or smaller than the intensity of the QAM signal at a drift occurrence time where a drift occurs in the bias voltage, adjust the bias voltage to maximize the intensity of the QAM signal when determining that the intensity of the QAM signal at the drift non-occurrence time becomes larger than the intensity of the QAM signal at the drift occurrence time, and adjust the bias voltage to minimize the intensity of the QAM signal when determining that the intensity of the QAM signal at the drift non-occurrence time becomes smaller than the intensity of the QAM signal at the drift occurrence time.

摘要: A distortion monitor for a non-linear device is provided. The control circuit includes an input coupleable to receive a signal from the non-linear device and a first frequency monitor coupled to the input. The frequency monitor monitors the level of one of even and odd order distortion at a first frequency and creates a first signal indicative of the level of the distortion without the use of a pilot tone.

摘要: A power control system comprising a laser driver that receives a data signal, and responsive to a modulation control signal and a bias control signal, processes the data signal to drive a laser to generate an optic signal that represents the data signal. A monitor photodiode configured to receive the optic signal and generate a monitor photodiode signal.A modulation control path, that processes a monitor photodiode signal and a reference signal, including at least one filter and at least one mixer. The modulation control path generates a modulation control signal. A bias control path, that processes the monitor photodiode signal and the reference signal, that includes at least one filter and at least one average weighting module to generate a modulation control signal. The bias control path and the modulation control path processing reduces the effect of the error in the monitor photodiode signal.
