摘要: A redundant data bus system has two data buses between which at least two failsafe control devices are connected. The two data buses operate with the same data bus protocol at essentially the same transmission frequency, and safety-related control messages are transmitted in parallel via both data buses and processed in the control devices. Each control device performs a separate control task via assigned control software. Each control device has two microcomputers which operate independently of one another and which have software for both the first and the second control tasks. When one control device fails, the control task can also be performed by the other. One data interface is arranged between the two microcomputers, via which result data calculated from the safety-related control messages can be exchanged and compared with one another. Based on such comparison a decision means determines which microcomputer or control device carries out a control task.

摘要: The present invention includes a system (FIG. 4) for servicing messages between device controller nodes and control applications via a Lon Network, wherein the device controller nodes includes a plurality of network variables for defining parameters of the Lon Network. The system includes a server for servicing the messages from at least one control application, a proprietary communication value for indicating a network variable value from the control applications, and a Lon value for indicating a network variable value exposed on the Lon Network. There is also a method that includes the steps of reading a message from the control application, verifying whether the message is valid, determining the requested function for a specified network variable from the message when the message is valid, executing the requested function for the specified network variable, and sending subscribed reports in response to a change of value of the network variables independently of the foregoing steps (170).

摘要: Methods and arrangements are provided for allowing various devices to communicate data over standard twisted pair wire within a confined region, such as a home environment. The methods and arrangements employ radio frequency (RF) communication techniques to modulate and transmit data signals over existing twisted pair phone lines at RF frequencies. The RF transmitted data can be detected over limited distances by other similarly configured devices. The RF transmitted data is then received and demodulated to regenerate the original data. The methods and arrangements also allow the data transmission to be conducted in accordance with conventional CSMA/CD techniques/protocols. Thus, for example, Ethernet network configured devices can be seamlessly interconnected using the methods and arrangements of the present invention without requiring that additional and/or upgraded wiring be installed in the home environment.

The interface unit has a cycle timer for counting the reference time of the home device based on the reference time on the transmission bus, a unit for extracting the reproduction specification time data in the data groups from a signal received via the transmission bus and storing the reproduction specification time data in a buffer, a reception buffer for inputting and storing the data pieces in the data groups in order and reading out the data pieces in the storage order responsive to a reproduction clock, a match detector for generating a reference clock pulse if the reference time of the home device matches the reproduction specification time, and a PLL circuit being responsive to the reference clock pulse for generating a clock signal which is phase synchronized with the reference clock pulse as the reproduction clock. When the reference time on the transmission bus changes, the data stored in the buffer in the reproduction specification time data extraction unit and the data stored in the reception buffer are all deleted.

摘要: Network connectable household electric appliances in general home, such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, air conditioners and lighting fixtures and a workstation of a service center are connected to permit communication therebetween. The workstation transmits a password and a running information request signal to a household electric appliance at intervals of a constant period, reads the running information stored in the household electric appliance and compares the running information with a reference value stored in appliance data so as to perform periodic inspection of the appliance. Not only in case a fault or abnormality occurs but also in case no fault or abnormality is detected, the result of inspection is informed to the user.

摘要: A method for implementing bandwidth reservation in an electronic network comprises the setup of a new connection between at least two nodes in a network, while preventing the overload of individual nodes, and the overload of the network bus, or a radio network. In one embodiment, the present invention is implemented through the use of a plug traffic list for each node to indicate the total capability to sink and/or receive, the outgoing communications, and the incoming communications. The invention also preferably includes a bus traffic list to indicate the load of the network bus. According to the present invention, a node that wishes to establish a new communication preferably first determines whether all nodes that are planned to participate in the new connection have enough capacity to handle the additional plug traffic, whereafter the capacity of the network bus is checked. If any involved node or the network bus does not possess enough capacity, it is possible for the node that seeks the new connection to pre-empt other connections. The present invention functions on networks that support various transmission speeds between two communication partners.

摘要: In a communication system including a plurality of electronic communication devices connected to a common transmission line, each of the electronic communication devices includes a communication section and at least one control section, wherein the control section establishes a logical communication channel on the common transmission line to perform communication therethrough between a control section of an electronic communication device and one or more control sections of another electronic communication device, and wherein it is made possible for the control section to reject a request for establishing a separate logical communication channel issued thereto by any other control section which has no relation to the logical communication channel which has already been established. Thus, the communication system is constructed to enable efficient mutual communication to be performed between the control sections.
