Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for semi-synchronously exporting data. A web server creates an export record in response to receiving a data request from a client computer. The web server sends a token to the client computer, wherein receipt of the token enables the client computer to be used for other purposes while waiting for receipt of requested data. At least one of multiple batch processing servers processes the data request in response to accessing the export record. At least one of the multiple batch processing servers updates the export record to reflect the processing of the data request. The web server exports the processed data request to the client computer in response to identifying an update of the export record.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing digital streaming media data to client devices via a digital media control room is described. The method may include receiving a request at a server computer system from a mobile device to join a digital media control room, where the digital media control room is a virtual location that provides access to digital media data of a real-world event captured by a plurality of different mobile devices. The method may also include locating one or more available media streams associated with the digital media control room that capture the real-world event as the real-world event occurs. The method may also include transmitting data indicative of the one or more available media streams to the mobile device.
Abstract:
A method and system for retrieving at least a portion of a first data file are provided. The method includes receiving a request for the at least a portion of the first data file, the request including a start of the at least a portion and a size of the at least a portion; computing a data offset that is aligned to an integer multiple of a block size of the storage device and nearest to the start of the at least a portion; computing a byte-range that is an integer multiple of the block size of the storage device; reading data within the byte-range; and transmitting the at least a portion starting at an offset relative to the data offset that is aligned to an integer multiple of the block size of the storage device.
Abstract:
In some examples, a node in a distributed system may receive one or more IP addresses for use with one or more virtual machines. For example, at least one of the received IP addresses may be encoded into a respective MAC address. Further, a hypervisor implemented on the node may configure a virtual machine on the node. For instance, configuring the virtual machine may include passing the encoded MAC address to the virtual machine through the hypervisor. The virtual machine may be configured to decode the IP address from the encoded MAC address, and the IP address is assigned to the virtual machine.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method is provided for managing and sharing picture files. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method comprises providing a server platform and providing a datastore on the server platform for maintaining full resolution copies of the files shared between a plurality of sharing clients. A synchronization engine is provided on the server platform and is configured to send real-time updates to a plurality of sharing clients when at least one of the sharing clients updates or changes one of said files. A web interface may also be provided that allows a user to access files in the datastore through the use of a web browser.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for requesting data from a server over an HTTP connection. In one implementation, a method includes in response to reading at least a portion of a random access file from a server via an HTTP connection, requesting a first amount of data at a first location in the random access file, receiving the first amount of data from the server, determining a second amount of data to be requested, the determining based on a growth rate parameter, and prior to completing the reading of the first amount of data received from the server, requesting the second amount of data at a second location in the random access file that is different than the first location, wherein the size of the second amount of data being requested is greater than the size of the first amount of data.

A computer-implemented method is provided for managing and sharing picture files. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method comprises providing a server platform and providing a data store on the server platform for maintaining full resolution copies of the files shared between a plurality of sharing clients. A synchronization engine is provided on the server platform and is configured to send real-time updates to a plurality of sharing clients when at least one of the sharing clients updates or changes one of said files. A web interface may also be provided that allows a user to access files in the data store through the use of a web browser.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, method and program providing a multi-tenant software as a service (SaaS) application or cloud computing service that manages and monitors the use of other SaaS applications or cloud computing services via a common connection and database framework. An Internet-based interface is provided as a single portal for monitoring and managing the use of SaaS applications or cloud computing services. Objects and the state of these objects including all associated attributes related to the SaaS applications or cloud computing services are stored in databases associated with the Internet-based interface. The Internet-based interface also provides a social networking infrastructure and an application exchange infrastructure that allows sharing of information related to the SaaS applications or cloud computing services.
