    摘要: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for a sub-frequency volume control unit for providing additional control of sub-frequency volume in a signal provided from a source unit to a subwoofer, without exceeding a maximum volume level of the subwoofer, the source unit having a master volume controller and a maximum volume level. The sub-frequency volume control unit may comprise: a sub-frequency volume control circuit for receiving the first audio signal and for generating a sub-amplifier signal; a variable volume control input device, wherein the sub-amplifier signal is amplified by an amount that is variably selected manually using the variable volume control input device, and wherein the sub-frequency volume control circuit is configured to amplify the first audio signal if, and only if, the master volume controller is providing the first audio signal at less than the maximum volume level; and an output for providing the sub-amplifier signal to a subwoofer.

In a typical arrangement, left and right satellite speakers are positioned such that the center of gravity is approximately aligned with the pivot axis of the side arms. In addition, additional speakers may be positioned along the support arms and the speakers may be rotated adjusting to desired speaker angles to accommodate for various room acoustics.

    摘要: An apparatus for realistically reproducing sound, particularly for sound based on a stereophonic signal having dialog and effects and associated with an accompanying video image. The apparatus includes a front speaker located in proximity to the video image for providing acoustic output based upon a summation signal of the component left and right (L+R) channels of the audio signal. A rear speaker located to the rear of the viewing area provides acoustic output based upon a difference signal, (L-R) or (R-L), between the left and right channels. Left and right speakers located to the respective left and right sides of the viewing area. The left and right channels speakers reproduce in one embodiment the respective left and right channels of the audio signal and in a second embodiment reproduce a difference signal, (L-.beta.R) or (R-.beta.L), where .beta. is a gain which may vary or may be a value fixed between zero and unity. Output to the left and right speakers is band limited to substantially filter out frequency components below a predetermined threshold. A bass speaker may also be provided to output the low frequency components of a (L+R) summation signal. The (L+R) summation signal input to the front speaker assists in localizing dialog to the video image. The (L-.beta.R) or (R-.beta.L) difference signal substantially removes dialog sound so that the side and rear speaker output primarily comprises sonic ambience and surround sound effects. Band limiting the left and right speakers further assists in localizing dialog to the video image. Alternatively, in yet another embodiment, a monophonic signal may be applied to at least one embodiment of the system to enable production of a spatially enhanced surround sound effect.

    摘要: Systems and methods for providing augmented arrays for audio playback are disclosed. An example playback device includes a first transducer configured to output audio along a first acoustic axis and a second transducer configured to output audio along a second acoustic axis. The playback device is configured to receive a source stream of audio content including at least a first input channel and a second input channel. The device plays back first audio output via the first transducer based on the first input channel and directed along the first acoustic axis, and plays back second audio output via the second transducer based on the second input channel and directed along the second acoustic axis, wherein the second audio output at least partially cancels the first audio output along a first spatial region offset from the first acoustic axis.

    摘要: A feedback-controlled microphone includes a microphone body and a membrane operatively connected to the body. The membrane is configured to be initially deflected by acoustic pressure such that the initial deflection is characterized by a frequency response. The microphone also includes a sensor configured to detect the frequency response of the initial deflection and generate an output voltage indicative thereof. The microphone additionally includes a compensator in electric communication with the sensor and configured to establish a regulated voltage in response to the output voltage. Furthermore, the microphone includes an actuator in electric communication with the compensator, wherein the actuator is configured to secondarily deflect the membrane in opposition to the initial deflection such that the frequency response is adjusted. An acoustic beam forming microphone array including a plurality of the above feedback-controlled microphones is also disclosed.
