摘要： A method and apparatus for knurling a workpiece in which the knurl pattern includes grooves of at least two different configurations. The apparatus includes a knurl wheel holder that allows angular rotation of the knurl wheel about the holder longitudinal axis while maintaining the knurl wheel point of contact on the longitudinal axis. The apparatus also includes a knurling wheel that includes teeth of at least two different configurations. Also disclosed is a method of molding a molded article with the knurled workpiece to impart the inverse of the knurl pattern onto the molded article, such a molded article, a method of forming a structured abrasive article with the molded article, and such an abrasive article.

A stopper structure is further provided by which every mutually contacting portions of the annular metal plates are suppressed from making a relative displacement therebetween.

摘要： A method of making a control assembly intended for use in manually regulating the operating speed of power equipment in which fine adjustments may be obtained by rotating the control knob and rapid changes in speed may be achieved by shifting the knob axially. The assembly includes an outer one-piece sleeve adapted to be mounted upon an instrument panel or engine housing and permanently joined to a flexible casing containing the operating wire or cable. A plunger assembly is rotatably and slidably received within the sleeve, the plunger assembly including a thin-walled plunger tube of flexible material having a control knob ultrasonically welded to one end of the plunger. The side wall of the plunger tube has a non-circular (preferably oval-shaped) opening through which a retractable follower (ball) protrudes for engaging the internal threads of the sleeve when vernier adjustment is desired. The width of the opening in one direction is slightly less than the diameter of the ball and, during assembly, the edges of the opening defining the reduced width flex inwardly as the ball is forceably inserted into the tube during assembly. Thereafter, the opening returns to its original shape and size to retain the ball within the tube.

摘要： An electric lamp including a glass envelope having at least one conductive foil hermetically sealed within the press-sealed end portion thereof, the foil being electrically connected at one end to a side rod support wire which projects within the envelope's bulb portion to form part of the lamp's filament structure. A sound electrical connection between the support wire and conductive foil is attained by providing the end portion of the support wire with a relatively flat configuration and knurling a surface of this flattened end. This knurled surface, being welded to the foil, provides such a connection without the use of flux or the like. A method of making this lamp is also disclosed.

摘要： In an axle box structure of soft metal such as aluminum alloy including a bearing bore, a sleeve member of hard metal such as iron pressedly engaged within the bearing bore, and a rolling bearing assembled within the sleeve member to support an axle shaft thereon, the sleeve member has on its outer periphery an axial knurl or serration to be embedded in the axle box structure, the knurl or serration being annularly formed with a predetermined axial length substantially at the central portion of the sleeve member such that the crest diameter of the knurl or serration is larger than the outer diameter of the sleeve member and that the root diameter of the knurl or serration is smaller than the outer diameter of the sleeve member.
