Abstract:
A clamping jaw assembly and cutter assembly employed in machinery used to manufacture nails, screws, rivets, and similar objects starting with wire material. The invention includes a groove design having a smooth wave that reduces the wear rate of the groove improving the life expectancy of the hard material clamping jaw insert. A clamping jaw assembly and cutting assembly that are both easily accessible for permitting quick replacement and/or indexing of the carbide-clamping inserts.
Abstract:
A method of making a roofing product such as a shingle is provided. One such method includes creating a mixture having at least a polymer and a filler, forming a sheet from the mixture, cooling the sheet, embossing the sheet, forming multiple roofing products from the sheet and bundling at least some of the roofing products together. This method is performed using an automated procedure. Another method of the present invention involves creating a composite roofing product using mold cavities, using a robot to transfer some of the roofing products from some of the mold cavities to a conveying system, and stacking together at least two of the roofing products that have different colors of different surface configurations.
Abstract:
An improved method and apparatus for recycling demolition brick for reuse in new construction. The bricks are recycled by having mortar removed from the demolition bricks, then stacking the recycled bricks for shipment. An automated process having seven stations is utilized from removing mortar from the demolition brick and stacking the brick. The first station includes a sorting area where the demolition brick is introduced into the automated process. The second station is a first cutting area where mortar is removed from the back surface of the brick. In the third station, the demolition brick is secured in a clamp and an image is taken of the front surface of the brick. The imaging data is used by the fourth station where cutting devices remove mortar from opposing ends of the demolition brick. Similarly, imaging data is utilized by the fifth station where a third cutting device removes mortar from the top and bottom of the demolition brick. At the sixth station, a loading arm removes the brick from the clamp and positions the brick on a shelf for placement onto a pallet. The bricks are properly stacked on a pallet at the seventh station for transporting to a site for reuse.
Abstract:
The present invention is an attachment fixture that is used in conjunction with a single-pass radius molding system to manufacture elliptical arches. The attachment fixture includes a vertical beam, a horizontal self-centering rack mounted at top end of the vertical beam, a swivel base attached at bottom end of the vertical beam, and a holding clamp attached to the swivel base.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for trimming plastic frames. Frames are joined to bring heated, soften ends into engagement, causing some softened material to be forced out from between the engaged portions, forming a flashing. This flashing is trimmed by a pair of trimming blades moved along associated guide members. The trimming assembly is mounted directly upon clamps holding the frame members, enabling performance of the trimming operation and eliminating the need for moving to a separate trimming/finishing station remote from the joining equipment. Excellent cutting action is assured by locking the guide blocks preparatory to a trimming operation. Various combinations and sequences of repetitive trimming operations may be selected whereby the cooperating blades are moved in selective cooperating directions to provide a trimming operation which avoids the need for further finishing. Trimming may also be performed simultaneously on multiple stacks of members being joined using the above technique.
Abstract:
My invention works in accordance with a hole saw, (which is a drill/boring hole maker.) The funnel is placed over the hole saw and the cavity is placed in the enclosure box, etc. The cavity is used to capture debris, filings and particles which are being bored and drilled. The pieces are being contained within the cavity to ensure safety and not have pieces cause injury or damage to persons or equipment. My invention gets placed into a drill motor which is used to bore the hole.
Abstract:
Sheet material is unrolled until a straight cut leading edge is at a predetermined desired length as measured along a scale, and so that a single tacky surface is on a planar support, for the unrolled sheet to lay wrinkle-free and planar in contact with the planar support surface. A cutter is translated along a guide entirely across the fixed width of the sheet material, thereby producing a linear straight line cut edge parallel to the straight cut leading edge at a predetermined desired length, thereby providing an accurate, dimensionally stable, abrasion resistant, single tacky side rectangular, planar sheet, mask that is then adhered to glass during surface finishing of frame portions adjacent to the mask. The cutter is slidablly mounted on a transverse pivotable guide rail to move away from the planar support surface sufficiently to remove the cutter as an obstruction to unrolling. In its operable position, the cutter blade extends within a linear, widthwise, slot of the planar support surface. The sheet material is an abrasion and tear resistant, abradable, non-stretching and dimensionally stable, composite with a permanent tacky adhesive on only its inner surface sufficient to provide non slip weak adhesion to the glass and easy manual removal from the glass.
Abstract:
Apparatus for extracting oil from the peel of whole citrus fruit includes a frame and a plurality of parallel horizontal rolls including toothed projections for piercing the outer surface of the whole fruit. Each of the plurality of rolls is rotatably supported via a rotatable shaft that is mounted to the frame. A plurality of motors are secured to the frame, each of the plurality of motors are mechanically coupled to a corresponding shaft of the rolls, wherein each motor independently rotates the shaft and roll. The apparatus also includes a controller for individually controlling the rotational speed of each of the rolls.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided that increases the efficiency of material handling apparatus, such as those used to trim and form electrical leads on solid state electrical devices. The apparatus includes a plurality of rotatable pulleys, an endless belt capable of retaining devices to be processed that is disposed around the pulleys such that rotation of the pulleys will cause said belt to travel around said pulleys, and a plurality of paired tooling members, each of said paired tooling members having first and second tooling members disposed on opposing sides of the belt and directly opposing so as to cooperate and perform a tooling operation on the leads when reciprocated toward each other along a common axis. In a preferred embodiment, two horizontally aligned pulleys with vertical axes of rotation are used to rotate the belt in a horizontal plane. The electrical devices are contained in a lead frame which is retained by pins on the belt which pass through indexing holes in the lead frame and the faces of the electrical devices are vertically oriented. The first and second tooling member are horizontally reciprocated by a common cam to perform the tooling operations on the electrical devices and the rotation of the belt is synchronized with the reciprocation of the tooling members. Alternatively, the first and second members can be driven by different cam drives that are synchronized in conjunction with the rotation of the pulleys and the relative orientation of the pulleys, the belt, and the electrical devices can be varied to accommodate specific tooling or spacing requirements.
